Hi, always enjoy an honest critique.
Pretty confident about his one
(If wifey loves it, there you go!!)
They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues that would fall within the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references we got directly from our client:
NOTE: The quality bar is going to be high for this request as this Music Library will be distributed through a MAJOR Publisher and will be looking for excellent composers for this catalog!
Give them quality-sounding Pop Instrumental Cues that are emotionally upbeat and have all the positive appeal of the references above. Your production should have mostly organic instrumentation, with infectiously uplifting melodies and rockin’ rhythm sections. Having some simple, non-lyrical Vocalizations like “whoas,” “yeahs,” “heys,” “ohhhs,” etc. could be a nice addition, but they’re not absolutely necessary… just a suggestion!
TAXI Tip: Adding/playing some real instrumentation over your Virtual Instrument tracks could help your submission stick out and give it a “real deal” feel.
Dec 17th is deadline
Here's my Pitch:

Thx in advance for the heads up.

Hi, It is a Dispatch listing. As for the ''obviously midi'' I listened to the example tracks really tried to follow mood and feel.
It's a very square tune! No quantizing was involed except for drums, guitar track is live...
lots of cut and paste though...
What would you suggest to make it sound less midi?
Many thx for your ''worry'' CTWF!

Hey it's a great uplifting melody and beat, but I definitely would need to hear the references that they give. Can you add links to the references? It will give us a better idea of exactly what they are looking for.

Thanks Tom, eveything you said makes sense... I will be working on the mix, may add some claps... BTW I also submitted to the Calliope listing, mine was not ''bouncy'' enough sceener said! I don't know what he means... maybe put the Calliope on a trampoline?CTWF wrote: ↑Sat Dec 15, 2018 9:27 amHi Pierre, I AB-ed it a little against the third reference you gave. As I said before, I like your tune, and it has a light-hearted feel to it. In the reference, the piano and the guitar seem to brighter than in yours. Percussion-wise, it seems to be a little "richer", I think I also hear claps in it (the reference). Altogether, the reference seems "richer", if you know what I mean, and yours a little "simpler". I don't say that this is a bad thing, this is only how I feel about it. I am less concerned now about the "MIDI-driven" thing, because listening more closely and also in comparison I have a better impression now.
I hope it makes sense what I wrote. Keep in mind, until this morning I was "returns" only, and my only credentials are a calliope forward (of all things...). Tom
