WOWSERS! 2 forwards!

Post by dommydom » Mon Sep 29, 2008 1:01 pm

An Indie Record Label with national distribution is looking for SINGER-SONGWRITER ARTISTS from the "Nick Drake school" - think along the lines of Jose Gonzalez, PJ Harvey, Alexi Murdoch, Beth Orton, Iron & Wine, Cat Power, Ray LaMontagne, KT Tunstall, etc. They're seeking individual artists that stand out - amazing, unique vocals; great, marketable image; tremendous musicianship; songs that actually have something to say. This label is based out of Chicago and is one of the most respected in the Indie world - has been for the past 15 years.I had 1 returned and 2 forwarded for this listing..Half Full was forwarded with all 8s and a 9 for musicianship. with the following:Nice aesthetic to this cut.... The vocal, lyrical terrain, melodyline and arrangement are definitely in the criteria's realm ofstylistic approach -Full of Fire was also forwarded with all 8's and a 7 for engineering:Great 1st Verse ! Strong imagery and execution ....I like the sense and use of space, to this arrangement-as well as the supportive ensemble playingoverall:Greetings Dom,Thanks for submitting three compositions that displayso many artistic touches. "Half full" and "Full of fire"amply display your artistic ambition and talents....I thoroughly appreciate the fact that you so clearlyunderstood the appropriate stylistic needs, of this exec. His label has a rich sense of history and fully understandswhat it is and what it is not. Hence the very left leaningindie aesthetic of the "Nick Drake school." Please keepup this quality of work ....Full of Fire is still on my myspace. will put half full up soonI'm so excited! great way to start the day!

That is just fabulous. I note the screener made specific mention of how you showed an excellent awareness of the stylistic requirements for this listing - that's something many people miss. Congrats on the Forwards and all the best in the future

I am a new member...just joined yesterday! I went to your Myspace site to hear "Full of Fire". This song is PERFECT for use in a movie. I picture someone either driving a car or riding on a bus....tears rolling down his or her face because they lost a love they had with someone, and they are feeling deep emotional heartbreak. This song would TOTALLY fit the passion of such a moment. I can see it so clearly. Jeesh...my own statement makes me wonder if I should be writing songs or working for the film places that accept them. Regardless, this is about YOU and I love it, man! Robby K

Congratulations Dom. Funny we only "met" yesterday. Looks like a really good forward and certainly hope you clinch the deal as a result. All the comments look great too. Nice clean recording by the way. regards, Michael W.
