I heard back from client re: previous forwards!
... and they passed on all three...Here's the original thread: http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?b ... ad=7161But I'm actually very excited about this. Some of you may be thinking "but Blue... they PASSED on your songs, why are you so excited???" Here's why...First, they actually contacted me via email to let me know that they were passing. That doesn't always happen. Not that I spend my days sitting around and wondering if I'm ever gonna hear from the clients that the songs got forwarded to, but in this case I don't have to.Second, that group of songs were submitted back in April. Right after I submitted those, I took the next 3 months off from writing and focused strictly on improving my recording, mixing and mastering techniques. I know I still have a ways to go, but I feel like I'm closing the gap. Which leads me to...The real reason why I'm so excited is that they left the door open for future submissions. They said they would welcome more material from me to review if I had any. WOO HOO!So I've got my foot firmly entrenched in the doorway now, and I'm gonna see just how far inside I can go. Even if this relationship doesn't progress any further, I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to TAXI for helping me make this connection. I know I wouldn't have done it on my own. Now if only I didn't have this day job that requires so much of my time... - Big Blue

Hey BB Great attitude... This is what it's all about- RELATIONSHIPS & CONNECTIONS. If it weren't for those taxi forwards, you would not have a direct line of communication to these folks. Good luck!Casey

That doesn't always happen. Actually, it happens so rarely that it's like a white elephant. I think I've had one place actually contact me to say "Thanks, but we're passing". That's part of the reason for my "submit and forget" philophophy... write another song, submit and forget over and over. One guy told me "if I want your music, don't worry, I'll call, email and send letters... you won't be able to get rid of me". Quote:The real reason why I'm so excited is that they left the door open for future submissions. They said they would welcome more material from me to review if I had any. WOO HOO!This is one thing I love about Taxi. Generally speaking, once I'm getting forwards through Taxi, I can assume that my music is "up to snuff". Then the reasons for returns are just that they weren't looking for that emotion or style at that particular time. That's a lot better than wondering WHY I got rejected (was it because of lack of quality, out-of-date style, etc?). Knowing in a general way that it wasn't the music itself, just that their inventory of what I sent was already full, that's a lot easier to deal with.Quote:So I've got my foot firmly entrenched in the doorway now, and I'm gonna see just how far inside I can go. Sometimes they never will tell you but I always ask if there's anything in particular that they are really looking for at the moment. As long as I have their ear I try to narrow things down. Mostly I get "whatever you want to send" but every once in a while I'll get something specific like "Reveal music... something to convey the emotion when a 'reveal' is made and the recipient is overcome with joy and gradtitude". It never hurts to ask.
