When I was real young and went for guitar lessons, they told me I'd have to learn righty. By that time, I was already on my way to playing lefty (with a righty guitar just flipped over.. a skill I keenly honed from years of playing air-style guitar on left handed tennis rackets). I wasn't about to start learning all over. I mean, that would've meant motor control and everything. I don't think so.What it means now is that, while my friends and peers are making money giving music lessons, I really can't. "Sure lady, I can teach Johnny as long as he never wants to play like everyone else". You know what they say, "Practice makes permanent."It means I really can't play some of the music out there. But on the up side, there are people who can't really play what I can. It helps a lot if you write music for your left-handedness.Apparently, the fact that I've never seen a lefty piano can offer a great reason why my piano playing isn't so hot. It's not me. It's the pianos.
