This could be accompanied by an understanding from presenters that stuff outside the intended outline topics should perhaps be prefaced with "here's my personal opinion/practice."It's best to leave room for presenters to speak their hearts and knowledge in the classes. But they should also make it clear who is speaking: themselves or the sponsoring company.Nov 12, 2009, 9:04pm, tvanveen wrote:P.S. Now won’t you sign up for our Disc Makers email list? http://www.discmakers.com/request/ It’s opt-in only (and we’ve got a great special on Digipaks this month). Hi Jonathan,If you had any idea how incredibly hard it is for us to even get a TOPIC from our teachers, let alone an outline... lol!!! That's why it takes us so long to get full schedules posted. Executing the pre-Rally planning/scheduling with well over 100 teachers, panelists, mentors, booksellers, sponsors, etc. is something that just can't be imagined... gotta be there
Herding 100 + cats!If we DID get them to turn in an outline, we WOULD be controlling free speech if we asked them to edit their content. Heck, I'd like to have the subject line of this thread changed because to a search engine crawler and to people who see it in a search, it might look like TAXI did something unethical.I don't think Syd committed a federal crime. He relayed a pretty common practice that's a gray area and from what I read BEFORE Tony chimed in, it was pretty clear to me that Discmakers itself wasn't (and wouldn't) encourage that practice. Then again, Tony is a close friend of mine and I know how high his ethics bar is.I think Casey's point that it might have been best handled by calling TAXI (or better yet DiscMakers) to discuss the issue would itself have been a best practice. I don't mean this in an untoward way, but to post it here before going to the source feels like it was designed to incite the villagers to raise their pitchforks on this issue before the full story was known... and I don't think Bobbo is that kind of person.Bobbo, I'm not trying to slap you down here (at ALL), but I was struck most by your very first sentence, "I really struggled with whether or not to post this but I think it's important." My father once told me, "If you've got to think about it THAT hard, what does that tell you?"I understand Bobbo's concern over privacy issues. This is a touchy, legitimate and ever-evolving issue given today's ability to communicate, share info and do it in a blink of an eye. By the same token, this issue might have been handled best privately at first, and if a satisfactory answer or resolution wasn't offered, maybe THEN it would have been a topic for public consumption. Given the lack of privacy today, I'm certain Sydney's email addy could have been found. lol!!Let's move forward Michael

Re: Ethical concerns with one of the TAXI sessions
People don't realize that in this world of Google, sometimes something as simple as the subject line a post (not actually intended to be accusatory or defaming), can instantly cause problems for Taxi (or whomever). I know that was not at all what Bobbo intended. But somewhere in an Internet search, the above headline will come up. Having something about e***cal concerns and Taxi, together in a sentence that Google's up on people's screens can give thousands the wrong impression. An aside... BTW, if you are new to taxi and don't know this, Michael is one of the most ethical people on the planet. It kills me when I see people confuse whether or not they have music success (for whatever reason) with a company's business practices.Along the same lines, Google is not very forgiving to individuals. Everything you post anywhere on the Internet is out there. That's something to always keep in mind when you post on a forum. Employers have been known to Google prospective candidates. A music library thinking of signing you might do that. Trust me, it really happens. I've seen it first hand. Casey
