Any Smooth Jazz Folks Out There?

Post by mfowler » Mon Sep 14, 2009 2:47 pm

If there are any Smooth Jazz composers/listeners out there I would appreciate feedback/constructive criticism on this song I am working on. Any more work on this song would incur the wrath of PETA for beating a dead horse!!!I dont have a specific listing yet, but I think we are due for some more musak type smooth jazz listings and that is the context for this one... contemporary smooth jazz but more for background music in coffee shops, stores, etc...(right click and "open in new tab" or "open in new window".. or you can go to www.taxi.com/mfowler)http://www.taximusic.com/stream/265482/ ... nks!Marlin

Man, I really like that song. I love all the modulations. It's played really well, everything's real nice and tight rhythmically. On my system it sounds like it could use a little more air over the whole mix, maybe just push it at 10k on up, but that's subjective. Great tune, have hope!

Hey Marlin, nice production here. The lead guitar part is high quality and that's the most important element for this genre.A few comments (listening on high quality headphones): - The backing guitar track (panned slightly left) sound just a bit distant - To my ears, the drums could use a bit more dynamics and have a slightly warmer sound over allNice job!Vince

Me personally, I think you've got a WINNER! Sounds to me like everything is sittin' nicely as it is. I don't think I'd change anything either. Just my .02. NICE JOB!ibanez468

Thank you all for taking the time to listen and comment!! This is my first request for feedback. This is much better than working in a void until either a forward or a return! My monitors and headphones are average at best.. I'll take a look and see about incorporating some of the advice and compare after stepping back from the music for a couples days. Thanks again!!! Marlin
