Re: Broadcast quality?...yes/no
Yup, it's broadcast quality. The only thing that sounded a little off to me at first listen was the sound of the drums. I thought the programming was good but just the choice of kits sounded a bit dated. But this is not my genre, so take that with a grain of salt. Sound quality sounds like it was done in a studio to me though, so not sure what the screener is talking about.Cam

Kick-ass tune, RLD...love it. The first few notes on the guitar are pretty brash until the other parts come in (perhaps you used a multi-band compressor on the full mix?), which would make this track hard to feature at high volumes. Can't think of anything else not broadcast quality about it, but if I were a music sup. I'd have turned it off after the first 2 seconds. I also noticed some lack of definition before your vocals came in, but not to a show-stopping degree.André

Hey, RLD. Great tune! LOVED IT.I think it's BQ, but I will say that there are some production issues that could be resolved to make it more BQ.Like Andre, I think the guitar tone is a bit harsh in comparison to today's radio. Most stuff these days has the mid-highs rolled off (and some lows too, to make room for the bass). But the biggest issue is that the mix lacks punch. The drums are not as big as tunes you hear on most CDs these days. So, overall, I think the individual tracks are great (fantastic job on the vox, btw), but perhaps you should send it to someone for mixing (Chris Carter has advertised his services, I believe), or just pick the daylights out of Barry's brains; his mixes are pretty close to being ready for primetime.Great job, man.

Thanks guys,Sure, there are mix issues that all us bedroom producers have... but I think there is nothing so drastic as to disqualify this from BQ.Andreh mentioned the intro being so brash as to make someone turn it off after 2 seconds...I hope the screeners don't do that, but I don't like being blasted without warning either, so maybe I'll revisit that.I've posted a note in the "screeners shoutout" forum asking for a clarification...will I get one? I hope so.

Re: Broadcast quality?...yes/no
I can't think a loud start would justify a "not broadcast quality" return.Lots of songs just blast in there. This track still sounds fine to me. Maybe it is broadcast quality already, but that one screener is convincing everyone it isn't, and we're looking for a reason that isn't there! The next screener may forward it.Here's hoping!
I put the kettle on, it didn't suit me.

Re: Broadcast quality?...yes/no
I can't imagine why someone would call this less than broadcast quality. Maybe someone made a mistake. I even had a 2nd listen while reading André's comments, and I still think it's totally BQ. I wouldn't call the office for every little thing, but I would for this one... Except, you haven't put the listing requirements up. And that is how we measure...Man, you're awesome tho.

Re: Broadcast quality?...yes/no
For you Steve, since you're such a groovy guy... MODERN ROCK/ELECTRONICA/METAL SONGS are needed immediately by a Music Supervisor who is currently working on an Independent Film. They are looking for songs in the range/style of a modern day version of Ted Nugent’s “Stranglehold.” NO COVERS please. The music will be used during a comedic “club fight” scene in the film. Stylistically, think of a sexy/low/dirty “rock growler” groove. They DO NOT want classic rock songs, 70’s jams, slow rock songs, or extremely heavy metal songs. They will mostly be using the song as an instrumental for the background of the fight scene, so the instrumentation should be strong enough to stand on it’s own. They prefer songs with vocals, but exceptional instrumentals will work. Broadcast quality needed [excellent home recordings are OK].
