Good match for singer/songwriter listing?

Post by ideascapes » Fri Dec 12, 2008 7:36 pm

Hello esteemed fellow songsmiths. I arranged/produced the song below for an artist and am hoping to get opinions on the fit to the listing below. Thanks much.--------------------------------------------------MALE SINGER-SONGWRITER SONGS in the range of Bright Eyes, Rufus Wainwright, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine, Patrick Wolf, etc. are needed by a large International Music Publisher/Producer looking for commercial/marketable songs for Film/TV placements. While the preference is the style of the artists referenced above, this company will also consider songs that have a more "pop" influence a la John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, etc. Lyrically, you'll want to submit songs that could apply to a variety of scenarios/characters/plots - for a wide array of placement opportunities. In order to submit, you must own 100% of your song's rights (master and sync). This company offers a variety of deals and will negotiate on a per song basis. Performances must be great and recordings need to be at Broadcast Quality (excellent home recordings should be fine). Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than December 24, 2008. I like this a lot Vince. Very nice! I'd say it's a match to the listing too. The melodic hook is very catchy.Cam

hey kid--i LOVE this tune, and iif this isn't a forward, nothing is....simple, to the point, well produced, nice instrumentation.only one thing on two listens, i think that with what i heard in the first parts/s is that your vocal (and i KNOW this is NOT the rule...) but in this mix, i'd not "center" your voice, at least in the early sections, as it collides a bit with the piano, which is another strong "instrument" as well as your voice...maybe slip your vocal at least until the chorus/thing you have going, just maybe 10 % off to one side or the other (on my cans it would be on the "left side...)but man, i dig this mucho!!! very nice job, nice everything...if you have more of these, you will be very successful! or SHOULD be...all the best, warrenps: did you review me, or i you on the 'jam, your name/style is very familiar...but they go by so fast...wh

Hey Vince,I like it. I like the simplicity and clarity of it. At least it feels simple. I think it just might fit the listing. I'd submit it.Dean

Wow Vince, this is great. That verse right away grabs your attention, the melody movement is very unexpected, great.I think this is a great match. I think you'll be pleased with that spent $5. Andy

I really like this song, the instrument arrangement is great, the vocals sound great and they fit the song very nicely. If anything, I would say that the bridge sound slightly misfitting, it seemed to sound a bit odd when it first came in, but I only felt that way for a little while. The melodies are great, I especially like the "straight-lined" melody in the verse that gives it a certain uniqueness, but it still fits the song beautifully.-Jeff

Hey Vince,I like the song, track, arrangement, production...it all sounds great. BUT--I don't think it fits the a la's. The way I'm reading this listing, its' looking for songs that are much more left of center, and a little more quirky than what you're offering up here. Which to my ears is a purely pop ballad that might be better targeted towards a Josh Groban-ish listing (especially if it had a big range-y melody).
