Modern Rock/Hard Rock return

Post by foglyte » Wed Dec 10, 2008 5:15 am

Received a return for this listing. Off target. Though the screener doesn't really mention it, I think perhaps the energy isn't high enough, and based on the one forward posted for this listing, I couldn't agree more. "Sound quality was not great, but good enough for listing" they stated. "I need to work on the overall sound, with it not being current sounding"... was another comment. This targeting thing is a challenge! I wanted the critique on this piece, so I submitted it.Long term plan in full force, I remain confident. MODERN ROCK/HARD ROCK INSTRUMENTALS are wanted by a very successful Production Music Library who has placements with ABC, CBS, NBC, WB, Disney, Discovery, Lifetime, Fox, USA, etc. (to name just a few). It's vital that the tracks have a lot of variation and dynamic shifts, with momentum and build. You'll want to focus on high energy, uptempo tracks with a clear forward movement and compelling dynamics. A current, radio-ready tone is essential for this one! You can submit tracks that range between 1-4 minutes in length and be sure there are NO VOCALS on these tracks. Recording & production needs to be really great and Broadcast quality is necessary - excellent home recordings should be fine. Please submit 1-3 instrumental tracks online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than November 11, 2008. TAXI #S081111RKMy post is for reference, though all comments appreciated. http://www.taxi.com/lunaumbraSong name: Here We Go.Fog

Yeah, when I think of Hard Rock / Modern Rock...I think of Slipknot, Evanescence, 18 Visions, Nickelback, Metallica, Velvet Revolver, etc....and to me, it's clear that the song is off target...although the listing doesn't seem to list any specific bands like alot of them do.-Jeff

Hey foglyte!Don't worry, you're in good company. I got the big [R] as well. For different reasons, but a return nonetheless.I think your drums are more out front than everything else. Least that's how it sounds on my Gateways. Sounds like you may wanna bring up the rest of the instruments, from what I can hear.Yes, the targeting thing is quite challenging. That's why it's "NOT EASY". But you'll get better in time, if ya' keep at it. Remain confident! Things change!I-468

yes, keep to the mission, keep to the path, strive, my childe, strive! but this ain't modern rock. check out the names heckx mentions, and think way more in-yer-face. the loudness wars. the listing mentions variation, your tune just kinda works a groove, no real dynamic shifts or build.your tune sounds decent, mind you, has a good vibe, but doesn't scream 'energy'. the rhythm guitar is almost totally lost, and the lead's a bit far back too. but keep to the mission. where there's talent, there's a way, and you got that.

Hey all, thanks for listening and the comments. On a curious note, I received a 6 for lyrics and the lead vocals. This is an instrumental. I am sure they were checked off by mistake, but these scores are better than some of the scores I received on songs with lyrics and lead vocals on them This music business is tough!Fog
