Thanks for listening Vicky and Andre.Vicky I think you're hearing the tabla which has the low drum in the right and the high drum on the left. Not sure why it works for you more later on but I did put the metal percussion "on the beat" for the last A so maybe in combination it works better. Thanks for the feedback. Andre, very astute. I'm not familiar with the scene but I will check it out. I got too far down the road to change the harmony in time so I put it in anyway. I respect and trust your ears so I will add that feedback to the pot for the next go-round.This was a tough one because on the surface Thomas Newman is pretty moody and very good at playing the irony of a scene but this exercise just shows how much of a master and genius he is at really finding the right way to play a scene. No wonder he gets the best gigs!! Folks, he's the guy to beat! The bar is stratospheric! Thanks again,Mazz

Quote:Complete re-work of the piece. Tried to lighten up the mood while still maintaining the suspenseful undertone. Took out some of the drums and taikos. Took out the pizz strings in the middle section. Took out the weird lap steel. Brought up the metal percussion in the mix, added glock and celeste doubling the piano melody, and added prepared piano and a few other little things here and there. Also re-worked the ending.Submitting now!Mazzhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=1147 ... truesounds great to me, Mazz! No nits

Wow... beautiful. What a pleasure to listen to. Now I remember what I'm trying to shoot for, even though I may be several years off from achieving it. It reminds me somewhat of the movie "The Talented Mr. Ripley". Really, really enjoyed listening to this one.
