A song about a woman who simply has had enough!
Hello Fellow Passengers! It's been awhile since I've posted a song, so here goes...My newest tune is called "No More Games!" and it combines Pop/Rock/Adult Contemporary styles. I dedicate it to women anywhere and everywhere who have felt the pain of loving an unfaithful man.My thanks to my son, Ryan, for the guitar work, and to Andrea Hamilton for the lead and background vocals. I welcome any and all critiques...good or bad. Just let me know what you think!Tom JacksonHere's the link:http://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home.php?userid=6315

Tom,I listened to all the songs on your Taxi page- I think your greatest strength lies in the songs you are singing. They have an honest, plaintive quality that could be optimized for more success. This may sound like an off the wall suggestion, but I think it could really suit your songs and voice:Look at the Taxi Listing for Alt/Neo Folk, and listen to some of the mentioned bands. "What comes after you" and "Hearts Desire" could both be the kind of dark and brooding songs they are looking for, if you upate your production. Your voice, and that angular electric guitar counterpoint to your acoustic lines work well together. Tweak those songs with production ideas from some current Alt Artists, and you'll be ripe for that kind of listing. The power of your voice is in the low to mid range- bon't mess with singing high. Crash Test Dummies and Tom Waits don't have to sing high to be succesful "If that's what you want" would be a cool Alt Country song, if you push the production that way.

Hey Tom,I think the song has good potential. Great vocals too!Two things that comes to mind...During the second verse, add some snare and keep the drive going after the chorus. Also, I think it would be better if after the bridge, there wasn't that drum break. Maybe instead, have it flow into the guitar solo. You know, hold the word "Love" for a bit as the solo starts...maybe have the first note of the solo be the same as the vocals. Almost as if the solo is a continuation of the vocalists feelings.Come to think of it, the break might still have a place, but after the solo. Possibly hold the last note of the solo for a bit while the drums does the fill, then go into "No more games!" and continue the last chorus. At first, based on the title, I thought it was about a wife who's husband was too busy playing their XBOX

Paults,In regard to your admonition about my music, you said: "Look at the Taxi Listing for Alt/Neo Folk, and listen to some of the mentioned bands. Crash Test Dummies and Tom Waits don't have to sing high to be succesful "If that's what you want" would be a cool Alt Country song, if you push the production that way."I was just wondering if you could explain what you mean by "updating the production" and "pushing the production." I want to make some changes, like you have suggested, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any help would be truly appreciated, if you don't mind. Thanks!Tom

I looked up "admonition" - my comments were meant as positive suggestions, not as cautionary rebukes : ) I hear a lot of potential in these songs and your performance, and was offering some ideas that I though would help you get them placed through some listings. Pushing the production towards Alt Country could be as subtle as adding some slide guitar lines (dobro or electric), or harmonica. Maybe some female country-sounding harmonies? A good way to gets ideas about current production techniques is to listen to some of those artists mentioned in the listings and/or do a we - how are they programming their drum parts - what sounds are they using? Does another guitar part come in to reinforce the chorus? etc.

Tom, i think upgrading you drum sounds would bring your tunes to a whole new level.I recently purchased EZ-Drummer and have found it very benificial to writing and recording. http://toontrack.com/the drag and drop feature doesn't work with all host programs so you'd need to make sure it would work with yours. Battery3 is another, i do not own but have heard very amazing things about it.http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=battery3
