Hey mike,Hmmm...don't know. I think if you speed up the tempo, and turn the single kick into a double kick throughout, you might have something. I don't think you've got enough octane goin' IMO. Sounds good though. But I think it needs more energy to be considered "HIGH OCTANE". Just my .02. FWIW.ibanez468

Mike....I'd take the mixdown and speed it up considerably (%140), then re-master,....just for the listing......keep in mind I'm newish....and a vigilante when it comes to editing....it's good for another listing (IMO).....but for octane, this tempo won't work....good luck,Vicky

i knew the track was a little slow for high octane, but bumping up the tempo will be too much work. The drums are the only midi recording, everything else was played with real instruments. I would have to re-record everything. I'm not sure i want to do that. I may submit it and take a chance, and receive a critique and really save it for the heavy metal listing.

Hey Mike, that's more great guitar playing there.....I'm hearing double bass drums through this piece. Like Ibanez468 said back in the thread. My $0.02 is that is all it needs. Speed wise I thing it would work okay with the more energetic drums. With that change I imagine it being used in a chase scene or some such thing. Even if you use it as a heavy metal forward the DB would definiately improve it IMHO.Nice work though Mike.......

hey everyone thanks for the feedback. I've got a technical question. Correct me if i'm wrong, but, if i speed up the track, the pitch overall pitch would change? mike

Hey Mike,If you have the track recorded on a computer DAW system like Sonar or Pro Tools or something then you can speed up the track without changing the pitch. Just changing the BPM and applying time stretching will quicken the pace without changing pitch. The first question would be what is the track recorded on?Derek...

Then I'm thinking the easiest thing to do is what Vicky the Bass player suggested. I'm not a Pro Tool guy so if someone else wants to chime in then feel free. But I think I would mix the track down to a stereo track, export it, then re import it into pro tools calling it something else. The whole thing is in the form of a WAV file and then you can apply time stretching to it as a whole, much as you would to a loop.Maybe a ProTool user can tell you exactly what the specific steps are but generically I would increase the BPM on the imported track to the desired time. Check to see what the track sounds like, maybe it will automatically compensate, if not look for a option to time stretch, maybe it will be called something else but it should be close. Then apply this option to the track. You probably have to set exact parameters. You can experiment some what. Hope this is of some use to you.There may be a better way too......what do y'all think.
