Quote:Your critique on the track "Egypt" would be highly appreciated.http://media2.sonicbids.com/EPK/Assets/ ... lternative rock isn't my main thing so I can't really say how this compares. The main thing, in terms of general marketability, is that the intro is nearly a minute long before you start the first word of the first verse. In marketable music terms, that's a LONG time. Too long for any record exec and too long for most radio listeners. Long intro songs have made it ("I Need A Lover Who Won't Drive Me Crazy") but those are rare and the exception rather than the rule.On a project I'm currently working on, we have to submit one minute versions for approval and then extend those to full three minute versions. That means that in order to get the song approved, we have to pretty much have the main elements of the song all wrapped up into a one minute package. It's really helped to reinforce to me how important it is to "get to it" and give the listener the meat of the song right away and not hope that they'll wait around for things to develop. FWIW,Dave

Hi davinci,I like the overall sound...interesting mix of modern rock and world music influences.Unfortunately the playing is extremely shaky and sloppy. I think this is a case where your musical ambitions far exceed your abilities as players. The resulting sound is quite amateurish, I'm sorry to say. I think you really need to practice extremely hard, both individually and as a collective, for a considerable amount of time (months at least) to get to a point where you can perform this ambitiuous music as a tight collective. The standards are extremely high when it comes to getting signed (even if it doesn't always appear this way), so you need to put your absolute best foot forward. And Dave is absolutely right about the intro. No A&R person or other music business professional is gonna wait for a minute to get past an intro. They would turn this track off long before you sing your first word. One minute into the song you should be hitting your first chorus.I think your music has potential, but there is a lot of work to be done until it's ready for primetime.Good luck to you!matto
