Certainly there's more potential life to an NFL song than an Armenian Electronica track. Not much I can say that hasn't been said but I had some thoughts along the lines of what Dave said here.If it weren't for this Taxi listing you wouldn't have created an NFL song. Maybe now you could to some independent research on where else you could pitch something like that on your own? ... Research any and all broadcast outlets (ESPN, Fox Sports, etc as just examples) that may use tracks like that. If this track (I didn't get to listen) referenced one team, make some versions with other teams. Put all that on a CD designed to impress sports programming folks. Sometimes we forget that we need to take as much charge of our destiny as we can. I've seen it many times before where someone wrote a track specifically for a Taxi listing, it didn't get forwarded, but it created other opportunities.Good luck! CaseyPS Dave: How are those Armenian Electronica tracks coming?

Re: Frustrating Return
Good idea Casey...you're right...I don't have to wait around for Taxi listings to match my material....this would definitely be the case with this song...if anybody has such connections around here....let me know.

In the case of THIS highly specialized track, obviously listings like this may not come around that often. But you never know. As the playoffs and superbowl get closer, sometimes there are Dispatch leads for football oriented songs. If you are not a Dispatch member, sign up to be on Dispatch email. That way if something comes along that looks good for you, you can join at that point. The Dispatch fee is pro-rated depending on where you are in your regular Taxi membership year.*********Post-edit... Finally got a chance to listen... Good track! Yup, vocals too low. This could easily be made to be more sports general by taking out the "NFL" references. Taxi runs tons of listings for sports music in general, both instrumental and with vocal. You definitely could mix this down without vocal and find many opps for it as instrumental!**********As far as the contacts go, you have to do the research and homework. The Internet is a great tool. (I don't have any personal contacts in that area). Also, bear in mind that many folks have put in a lot of sweat equity into building their contacts and may not readily share them. I'm sure you can understand that. One of the main points of my earlier post was how Taxi helps in ways unrelated to whether you get a forward for a particular listing. Taxi can push you to make music you might not have made otherwise. And, if it wasn't for that Taxi return and this forum, maybe you wouldn't have as much understanding of the whole film/TV pitch process.BTW, regarding whatever track you created for this NFL thing... It's only the LYRICS that are NFL related, so haven't you written a music track on which other lyrics can be written for other opps?Best of luck!! Casey

Re: Frustrating Return
Yep Casey....funny comment about the reluctance to share contacts. Seems counter intuitive...also, if you didn't catch my explanation earlier, the "low chorus" vox was intentional. Your feedback as well as others is triggering something else in my mind. Seems like a big part missing from taxi is the ability for the artist to "pitch" the song. I almost feel like if I was able to explain all my decisions that the feedback I got from the screener might have been much different...Also, I might add that I've been a graphic designer for 10 years now. I submit versions of logos all the time...it's common place. It's even more common for my customers to make final tweak requests....and even after that, the final presentation of the logo is in print, web, clothing, etc...and is thus "edited" further (resized, displayed in black and white, etc.). it must be very plastic in it's application. I kind of feel the same way about this song...but what I don't understand is it being rejected on something so minor (chorus volume). If I submitted a kick ass logo to somebody and they thought the color of their business name wasn't bright enough...I brighten the damn thing...done. Everybody's happy. See what I'm saying? And what if I dulled the color a bit because I knew they were going to put it on a bright background where it would get lost or compete with other elements....that means I'm being intentional and calculated about my choices...not that I "botched it". So to me, the "song" is like the "logo"...it can only be 95% there because it's all relative...the final 5% is "worked out"...a sort of tightening of the screws. How could I submit a song that fit's 100% percent? The listing doesn't even say what it's for? As a hyperbole, what if this listing was for AM radio only? That would be good to know because AM radio broadcasts in Mono...that would change my approach to mixing. In reality, I have about 100 questions about the listing....questions I can't have answered before submitting my song....with this, I would assume some screw tightening would/will be needed with any submission. See what I mean?
