Re: Return on "All Cause of You" listing
It is a nice little song and you do have a really good voice. But a bit of advice if I might. To anyone who is using midi drums, check out the BFD drum sounds program. It has several kits of varying sounds and each kit piece was recorded with up to 11 mics. You can mix in room mics and even lay off the drums to separate tracks for mixing or mix inside the program itself. It sounds amazing and if programmed and mixed properly and complex enough, NO ONE can tell it is programmed. I am known among my clients as being able to record killer drums, but for most of my own writing, I use the BFD because mit sounds real and is much easier than putting up with drummers, ( oops, sorry LOL) To be honest, almost all the tracks I listen to on the forum that people are asking input about, are really weak in the drum sounds and mixing overall. But investing in something like BFD will add a ton of cred to your mixes if used right. Keep at it!Wodinlord

wodinlord,I would love hear some samples of what you're doing with BFD. We mainly use Reason, but are always open to something else. You could post it here or PM me.

wodinlord... I've got BFD lite, but I prefer using EZ Drummer. Without trying to sound too defensive I've actually gotten compliments on a couple of my "metal" songs that I submitted on how well the drums sounded, so I think for this particular song, I just didn't spend enough time on programming the drums on this particular listing. It probably wouldn't irk me so bad if I wasn't a drummer, but since I have a SWEEEEEET DW Kit sitting right behind me that I'm not able to record live yet, it drives me nuts! If you get a chance, check out my most recent song - http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=trueBy the way, the vocals are not mine. They belong to my co-writing partner Joel. But I'll pass the compliment along, I know he'll appreciate it thanks again for you eagerness to help. It TRULY is appreciated.

Big Blue Barry,Dude, I am sorry. I didn't realize it was you on both of these posts I critiqued until afterward. Enough of me for one day, huh. LOL Man, use what you feel best using. Taste is totally personal. I must say though that BFD lite is not the same as BFD2. As much as I like it, I also use drums that I have sampled myself too. Nothing works for everything. That song you posted is cool, drums were programmed very convincingly. Keep rocking. Personally, I am never totally happy with my mixes. I just have to stop at some point. Then, a month later I'll hear it and think it sounds great, and another month later, I'll hate it. or vice versa. Che asked me to post something with BFD on here, but I don't know yet how to link my songs from Taxi. However, at www.myspace.com/kerrycraftonproducer you can hear a couple of Nine Inch Nails remixes I did that have BFD on them. "My Violent Heart" and "Capital G" They are not the best examples, but it will give you a good idea of what BFD sounds like. The streaming really screws with the sound, but...

wodinlord... no need to apologize man. Seriously, I'm good. I would like to think that I have a teachable spirit so I can take constructive criticism To link to your songs here on Taxi, just go to your Taxi profile page, right-click on the "Play" button for the song you want to link to and choose "Copy Link Location" or "Copy Shortcut" depending on which browser you're using, and then just paste the link in the text box. So... I went to your myspace page... noticed that you did some work with Pantera

Hey Blue, checking out "Blood inside " now... mix sounds better stereo wise... still needs more bottom.... bring the bass up...Can you separate the drums onto their own tracks or is this a loop? (though you can split some loops)It's nice to be able to EQ/Process snare/kick so they stand out... sometimes if I use a loop I program kick/snare to mirror the loop so I have more control over the mix... goodluck... Re: Return on "All Cause of You" listing
thanks Geo... the drums are seperate so I can tweak the EQ a bit more on the snare/kick. I'm dying to get a chance to go back and start tweaking some of my tracks. Right now I'm in the middle of editing a Christmas album in the modern Praise & Worship genre style. Quite a bit different than the metal stuff I typically write

Re: Return on "All Cause of You" listing
Good, I thought so hearing the stereo tom fills which I love... the toms sounded nice, maybe a little compression on snare/kick drum to help bring them out... did I read you're the drummer? (Not loops ) How do you record, just curious (haven't recorded live drums in years), does your partner play bass or guitar along with you and then you add the other parts later, sounds nice and tight... Geop.s. Do you put a noise gate on the drum mikes? An engineer friend of mine mentioned in conversation the other day he uses gates on the toms when recording drums (he was explaining to me what a noise gate does) just thinking.

Re: Return on "All Cause of You" listing
Yep, I'm the drummer and the guitarist and the bassist My partner does vocals and most of the lyrics and melodies. Typically, I'll put down a scratch track of guitar with some "place keeper" drums. We'll tweak the song till we're happy with the arrangement then I go back and track everything. Right now all of my drums are programmed with EZ Drummer. It's not my ideal situation but up until last week, I haven't had the room to set my kit up. I still don't have the mics to record it with, but at least I'll be able to play on it again. Here's a picture of it I took last year when my wife let me set it up in our dining room. I don't know which one of us is happier that I now finally have a place to put my kit
