60's and 70's returns

I think the problem with this one may be that it's not catchy or distinctive enough. At the Rally, it was said more than once that uptempo is the best thing for instrumentals. In addition, you should start with the 'meat & potatoes', and be quirky or distinctive. I think this piece might work for a different listing, maybe comedy, but I'd work to bring out a quirky groove in it.60's listing -- Give Me Mo'http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... ream=trueI think this is the better of the two. It seems a little more 50s than 60s to me, but I may not know what I'm talking about. The main issue I think is tempo. Like above, it's tension, or excitement that sells. However, this might work very nicely for a different kind of listing... again, I hear comedy theme a la 'what's my line' or something like that.70's listing -- White Marehttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=8135 ... =trueagain - something very slow, nice playing. Starts too slowly, need to start stronger (like on the piece below). Might work nicely for the 'sad' instrumental listing that just passed. I found the overall volume to be less than the above two cuts. Imagine you are a music publisher -- what would you pitch this for? What mood does the music convey? What would it sell? This to me is atmospheric, but I don't hear anything that makes it distinctly 70s.70's listing -- Portrait of Lifehttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=8135 ... m=trueVery nice piece - you started with a good melodic riff that pulled me in. Maybe the experts here could comment how you could take a piece like this and make it more distinctly 70s. IMO it's great. Just need to look for a home for it. Would fit that "sad" or "emotional" listing perhaps.For all of these I think the playing/production is good (altho I don't trust my production knowledge enough to know). Are you using drum loops?
