Commercial Xmas tunes
Hey Friends,Just submitted 3 tunes for this :COMMERCIAL VERSIONS OF CHRISTMAS SONGS in ALL STYLES (except Rock or traditional/classical versions) needed by an Independent Label with major distribution to license for an upcoming multi-CD compilation project. They aren't looking for any traditional-sounding arrangements, just imaginative and diverse versions of well-known Christmas songs. Stylistically, they would like to focus on Jazz, Swing, Latin, Salsa and Pop. They are open to both originals and covers, and pay all mechanicals. While they would definitely prefer for the songs to have vocals, instrumentals could also be considered. Great performances are essential. Broadcast/Master quality needed. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than Mar. 12, 2008.TAXI # S080312CSHere's my arrangement of the PD song God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemenhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=65971&stream=1 Arrangement of PD French Hymn Noel Nouvelethttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=9992&stream=1And an original song : My Favorite Time Of The Yearhttp://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_id=65973&stream=1Feel free to post your submissions here if you wish.Would love to hear yours.Cheers, MG

mike,GOOOOD STUFF!God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Automatic FORWARD, IMO. Fits the listing beautifully, I think. Great vocals, brass section, and piano soloing.Piste 5 - Sounds excellent too! While not being familiar with this tune, is a nice jazz instrumental. Don't see any reason for this not being forwarded. My Favorite Time Of The Year - Sweet original! I likes! Niiice vocals. Nifty trumpet solo! Great arrangement overall. This sounds like a forward ta' me as well. Here's my little attempt at a Christmas jazz instrumental.Chestnuts Roastingibanez468

Re: Commercial Xmas tunes
Hey ibanez468,thanks for taking a minute to listen and thanks for posting your song...Nice arrangement and lots of surprises throughout that piece...I'm always fascinated by how many chord variations you can put on Mel Tormé's '' Christmas Song''...What a genius that man is ( was ) . I had about 10 Xmas songs that fit that listing and it was hard to choose which ones to submit...So I went for the PD and original ones...BTW '' Noel Nouvelet '' was a song that I first discovered in French Catholic School when I was 11 or 12...I always thought it was a cool melody and I had fun giving it a 60's '' Blue Note '' vibe.Cheers bro,Mike

Awesome Mike! I have the Noel by Jacques Roux. I love your arrangements. Nice voice too! All 3 are forwards IMHO!

Re: Commercial Xmas tunes
Took me a while to finish tweaking after the deadline (bad habit I've gotten into, I'm afraid), but here are my two submissions. These are arrangements I did for our family Christmas band, so the instrumentation's a little non-standard. We play at nursing homes, shopping centers, etc.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... ueKathleen
