I immediately noticed that the listings suddenly have a majority of listings for artists, in all the genres... the film tv game and instr. listings have the songs and instrumentals requests as is usually the case.... but there doesn't seem to be as many song requests in the artist driven genres other than country....I was wondering if that is a seasonal trend, an industry trend, or a new phenomena in response to the consolidation going on in the majors.... Also..... in reviewing the falloff in sales that have been reported... I was wondering if that is RIAA tracking just majors and noteworthy indie sales, and whether the small indie and cd baby discs and downloads are being tracked for the impact....anyone have insights.....? It isn't your imagination, AJ, I noticed the same thing. But I have seen it for several months now. March 1 listings were a big disappointment. I did not find one additional listing that I wanted to send to. Fortunately there were already a couple from the previous sheet.

I think more instrumental listings will come again - so no problem just because there are more artist-listings in this month.I'm still able to submit for about 5-8 listings each week (I'm mainly doing stuff for libraries, etc), so really no problem;)

ArkJackYeah, I saw them...looks like slim pickings for songwriters. I don't know if that's anything new though. The way I understand it is that rock, pop and folk or alternative type artists mostly write their own songs anyway, thus, the songwriter isn't as important as they are in Nashville. Country artists are always away on tour, and many of them don't have to the time to write, so they need more songs. However, it looks like that could change because recording companies are wanting more singer/songwriter country type artists now....gonna be even harder to get our songs through the pipeline.
