a la Spiderman and Speed Racer

Post by mazz » Sat Jul 18, 2009 10:37 am

http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/1652838My intention was to have elements of both Spiderman and Speed Racer.Spiderman is, of course, Elfman and that's the dramatic parts. Speed Racer is Michael Giacchino (The Incredibles, etc.) and it seems to have more of a 70s action film vibe to it, so I tried to get some of that in there too!Enjoy!MazzORCHESTRAL or SYNTHETIC INSTRUMENTALS are needed immediately by the President of an established Music Library/Publishing Company who is looking to place tracks in TV dramas/reality shows. He is mostly interested in orchestral music with high quality MIDI work, and good sounding samples. He is open to all tempos, and moods can be in the wide range of happy, sad, contemplative, urgent, scary, nervous, playful, sneaky, intense, etc. In his own words, he says: "Don't send synth that's trying to be orchestral and falls short." He's requesting that the synth sound like synth, and the orchestral work uses authentic sounding instruments. The two different examples he used was music in the films Speed Racer or Spider Man.

Nice tune Mazz. I def hear the incredible stuff. Im not up on spiderman even tho I watched it like 3 times to hear where Elfman was going. My only comment would be the section with the tense tremo strings, thought it was a bit too long imho. Then again, it had me wondering, where is he going... So I guess it had the intended effect.Overall very nice work!

Mazz,Everything sounds great. Good sense of urgency as well. Makes me want to cheer on Peter Parker to save the damsel in distress.Chuck

Brilliant - I love how it builds - amazing stuff. I'm new to Taxi as of last week, and I'm listening to as many posted things as possible - the quality is so good - I've got a long way to go.

You've definitely hit the a la's! I submitted three very different tracks due to the wide variety encouraged in the listing, but here's the one that leans towards Speed Racer the most. It's pretty rough as I pulled an all nighter taking a shorter cue I did for an action comedy and pimping it up for this listing, definitely shooting for some 70's vibe. It's also on its way to being a submission for the world action listing after some serious polishing.http://www.taximusic.com/stream/252919/ ... comedy.mp3

I can envision the pages of Marvel comics flipping past for the opening credits!Great job! You're forcing me to pick nits here....only two that I found. And it's just me, as a movie fan. There is a sound that is used, sort of a swiping/crashing kind of tone...it seems a bit repetitious. I'm sure it's hard to find enough variation though. The other is the section where you finally establish a drum beat, where as the others are driven by the melody. For some reason, once the beat came in, it seemed to lose that sense of motivation. Could be the sounds you used, could just be me.I absolutely loved how you layers strings and horns, the counter melodies are superb in my book! Nice job! Can't wait to hear it in a soundtrack...
