First Forward

Post by slideboardouts » Thu Oct 04, 2007 3:48 pm

Got my first first forward today for this listing:"Stellar, very current-sounding RAP/HIP HOP SONGS & INSTRUMENTALS in the general range of Outkast to Black Eyed Peas to Missy Elliott to Ludacris to 50 Cent to Eminem, etc. are sought by a large Int'l Music Publisher/Production/Producer Mgmt. Co. Male or female vocals are fine. They want to find amazing songs & tracks for their library to pitch to film/TV/advertising projects. Great vocals and beats are needed. We've been asked to be very selective, as they want "the best of the best." No uncleared samples of any kind and you must own 100% of your song's rights [publishing & master rights]. They offer an array of publishing deals -- exclusive, non-exclusive, etc. Broadcast quality needed [great sounding home recordings are OK]. Please submit one to three songs online or per CD, include lyrics/photo/bio. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received by Sept. 19, 2007."It was a southern style instrumental. This was my second time submitting to a listing so I'm pretty happy right now The song is called "Duval" and you can hear it at www.taxi.com/slideboardouts (thanks lboogie77)Thus far TAXI is worth every penny. Since joining I've had an increase in production, some excellent critiques that will make my rejected songs and future compositions more marketable, and an opportunity to be heard by a music library. Alright I'm off to work on some more listings.-Steve

You should be VERY proud of this forward Steve, this is obviously a high bar listing and the screeners would've been quite picky...Congratulations, and best of luck!matto

Keep them coming, I wish you much success. It's a great track, I can hear it in all sorts of films.cheersHummin'bird

Thanks for the encouraging words everybody. I checked out the company I was forwarded to and they have an impressive website and an even more impressive client list. Their client list was kind of intimidating actually but hopefully somebody there will see something in my track!-Steve

I got forwarded for this one too........ for instrumentals.. he said "thanks for preserving the essence of hip hop" so that made me real happy.... also he mentioned about the poster wanting more non-sampled type beats, but he said i was too dope to not pass through... so again im smiling... same listener reviewed another submission before that one... and forwarded as well " Huge Production Music Library/Publisher looking for master quality URBAN/REGGAETON/RAP/HIP HOP INSTRUMENTALS/BEATS " you can hear some of my beats and stuff at http://www.myspace.com/swiftikarusand my full 77 beat archive and growing as i make them at:http://www.anonomogon.com/swiftikarus.htmlby the way how did you find out more about the company and client list??

Great job on the forward. You will be issued a electronic "Certificate" (it will show up next to the forwarded song on your submission history page) that will tell you the name of the company your material has been forwarded to. Then you can look them up and find out more information. However, I think that Taxi does not want you to contact them until they contact you. Apparently, there have been some issues in the past about members pestering companies after a forward, and that of course, is not good for all of us. Take care.Steven

I searched the web for the company one of my forwards went to and noticed that they are currently accepting unsolicited material. I have to assume it would be okay to approach them from that direction and not, in any way, connected to Taxi or the forward. I mean, if it's out there on the web...Of course, I'm not going to say, "hey, and how's my forward from Taxi? Are you done with it yet? I've got more, you know. I can write it all. What do you want me to be today?" (sounds pretty much like my high school dating line)Obviously, Taxi can't stop me but I wouldn't want to cross any professionalism lines or do something taboo. Just because I _can_ doesn't mean I _should_.Is that a reasonable assumption?
