Do Me Inn

Post by good4somethingbum » Fri Nov 02, 2007 12:21 pm

Do Me InnMister, when the week is done, me n the wife need some funAnd a place to git away for awhileFolks like us just can’t afford, some fancy mountain resortSo we found a place that’s more our styleFor a twenty dollar bill, Buddy you don’t git the frillsOf a Motel 6 or a Super 8Hindu guy at the desk, knows his regular guestsDon’t check in to rest and recuperateHe carries our bags and with a wink or twoSays “don’t do anything I wouldn’t do”It’s the Do Me InnPast the quarry on highway 10No heated pool…no in-house gymNo pillow mints or wake-up callsBroken heater…Styrofoam wallsNo compliment’ry coffee ‘r sconesShag carpet orange as a traffic coneAll we ain’t got is what we needTo git nice n friendly againWe’re always all done inCheckin’ outta the Do Me InnI was frustrated at first, the tv didn’t workAnd there’s no signal on my cell phoneBut that basic little room, was a one night honeymoonThat can be hard to git back homeAnd again it’s not our style, to take a walk down the aisleAnd renew our wedding vowsBut actin’ like newlyweds, on a magic fingers bedAin’t nothing’ to be ashamed aboutThough when the reverend came to our house Christmas DayIt taught me not to take no more towels when we stayAt the Do Me InnPast the quarry on highway 10No heated pool…no in-house gymNo pillow mints or wake-up callsBroken heater…Styrofoam wallsNo compliment’ry coffee ‘r sconesShag carpet orange as a traffic coneAll we ain’t got is what we needTo git nice n friendly againWe’re always all done inCheckin’ outta the Do Me Inn©2007 Robert George

thanks Ted...the phrase was just going to be a line in Routine Investigation but I completely forgot to put it in so I used it for a hook.

would LOVE to hear this put to music. It strikes me as just slightly word-y, but then again I haven't heard the pace and/or the rhythm you've got in mind. Editing it down (frequently my biggest problem) could help tighten it up.but I think what you've got so far is amazing. Brilliant, even. (Exit, stage left.) (Lord, does anybody besides me still remembver Snagglepuss? If not, sorry for the obscure reference....)Ted
