Just a little nervous

Post by booker » Thu May 20, 2004 2:52 pm

I'm a tad nervous to put up my best lyrics. On one hand, maybe there is someone out there that can do them justice and put it on the charts. On the other, it's an excellent way to steal my ideas and best phrases to use in someone elses song. (heck....how do you think I come up with this stuff).So....what do you people think? Take a chance on stardom....swallow your...er...pride? Or keep it to yourself and live a sheltered safe songwriters life?

Are you talking about your "Gimme Jimi" song?
It's hard to make a comeback when you haven't been anywhere

HI Rockinthebox I wouldn't worry about that to much.. I mean it could happen..but we are mostly all songwriters here...just here to help. I think most have a respect for otherpeoples work. at least I would hope so .Smile

I know what you mean Rock. I get nervous about even posting to broadjam, but hopefully the industry has changed since my teen years, when the band I was in met with a record company executive only to be told our song was "too bluesy" and later to hear our uncopyrighted tune reworked and recorded by one of his groups. I personally don't know of anyone else that this happend to, but when it occurred in the pre-Beetle 60's I was told that it was the way alot of bands, songwriters, and musicians were treated. A former co-worker of mine was married to one of the most successful "folk-rock" singer/songwriters from that era, Bob Lindquist (Bob Lind-"Elusive Butterfly"). He recently passed away, and his wife told me that everyone else made money off of him, but he wasn't getting anything...maybe bad contracts, or whatever but he died pretty much penniless. One of our great American composers of the late 19th and early 20th century, Steven Foster, also died penniless in a flop house in New York. I guess what I'm saying, is that if in posting something, you feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up...that's 2 million years of evolution telling you to be careful. Bob
