Re: ONOFFON
Quote:Me tooThanks Drew! We'd love to play for you... ONOFFON's SSP of the Day for today is a request for our music to be added to a new internet streaming station - The Mix Radio -"Hi there! I'm settin up a Mixposure artists stream from my personal web page. To begin with I will be uploading and streaming only those artists whose music I have liked while doing my regular review rounds. The stream link will be placed as a sticky thread on the forums and I will also be promoted in the forums where I partake, which are not many but I'll do the best I can to promote it and all the artists involved. If you want to promote it in other forums let me know and I will give you the link to the stream and the page where it will be hosted. Management has approved the idea and therefore I have the permission to do this until later on when this feature is embedded on the site as an automatic function. So..... what I need from you is permission to download, upload to my server and stream one or two of your songs (your choice) for the stream use only. Thanks a lot for your time and I will waiting to hear from you soon. Thanks a lot for your time, The Germinator"Our sincere thanks to The Germinator for requesting our songs for The Mix Radio...

Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is a thought left on the SoundClick.com BBs about our song, "Weekend in Montreal" - it was his first post on the boards over there -SoundClick.com BBshttp://www.soundclick.com/board/viewtopic.php? ... 0"Speakers are expressing the sounds melded by ONOFFON... Kinda cazh/chill with some uptempo for the beginning of the track "Weekend in Montreal" thank you for producing this track." - Robert James Koyich http://www.soundclick.com/bands/5/rober ... .htmThanks to Robert for taking the time to listen and leave his thoughts...

Re: ONOFFON
Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day could be gone by the time I post it - but I must post it, just the same. With a rating of 4.77 out of a possible 5, our song, "Surrender Now", is the #1 song on the overall Mixposure Top 25 (actually tied but that's cool too)!Mixposure Top 25 Charthttp://www.mixposure.com/charts.phpThese charts change in real time so, if another song enters the chart with a higher number, we are instantly knocked out of first. But, for right now, we're #1 - not just in Jazz - but the entire website! Just in case, I took a screen shot for the archives -Thanks to the reviewers that made this happen...

Re: ONOFFON
ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is from the OMD, Mp3Unsigned. I just happened to visit a page called the MP3Unsigned 2004 Awards -MP3Unsigned 2004 Awardshttp://www.mp3unsigned.com/2004awards.aspSeems that we came in second in the category of "Tipped for Stardom". Considering we came in second to a band in the much more industry friendly genre of Alternative, I would have to say this is a very nice accomplishment! Thanks to the staff over at MP3Unsigned that believes a jazz rock band can be tipped for stardom...

Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is an email I got last night -Subject: New cd??Date: Fri, 4 Feb 2005 19:57:21 -0800 (PST)From: John G To: onoffon@onoffon.com"Hey guys,First off, let me say I love your music. You are one of my all time favorite bands. I'm just wondering about what happend to the album you guys said you where working on a little while ago on your sight? I've been waiting for it to re-order ur first 2. I destroyed them... *sigh*... bad with cds. Gotta remember to make a copy and hide the originals Anyways thanks for the great tunes.-John"Alright John!!!!! One of his all-time favorite bands!!!! That's so cool! Wow - it would be so cool to be able to record and release an album on some kind of credible time table instead of doing a little at a time and saving up money for the next step. *whew* Too bad there isn't some record label out there who had the foresight to see what could be accomplished by backing a band like ours.... Just imagine what I could do with a realistic promotional budget...In the meantime, a 30-second commercial spot during the Super Bowl is going for a cool 2.4 million bucks!Amazing....

Re: ONOFFON
Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day is more from John G, from our last post. I wrote him yesterday to thank him and he responded -Me -"John G - Hey man - thanks for the kind words. The new CD is done mastering. We're putting together the final touches on the artwork and then it's off to the presses. Not sure how we want to release it but it shouldn't be too much longer. Things really move slow when you do everything yourselves. Thanks for hanging in there with us. Take care, Von from ONOFFON"John G -"Excellent. Thanks for the word. I just wasn't sure as I couldn't find the link on your site about you all working on it anymore so wasn't sure if it was dropped for some reason. Don't mind the time at all. Although I am looking forward to it Lol. Keep up the good work. Love your bass work. -John"Well... I guess that's really what it's all about. True artistic success isn't measured by how much money your art earns. It's how it inspires those who listen to it.Thanks again John, for helping me keep it real...

Re: ONOFFON
Today's ONOFFON SSP of the Day are some more recent reviews our song, "Opus", has received over at Mixposure - it's overall reviewer's score has improved from 8.92 to 9.47 over the last month - all these Mixposure song reviews can be found by clicking the 'view all' link at the bottom of the posted review box on any of our song pages -Mixposure - "Opus" by ONOFFONhttp://www.mixposure.com/song.php?songid=2018Reviews for Opus by ONOFFONOverall reviewer's score: 9.47Reviewed by: Joe King - 2/7/2005"Very emotive - The lush guitar sets up what is to come very well. The lead guitar, when it comes in, is almost a supporting instrument with its haunting ambience, not there to dominate the track. Its sound blends perfect. The bass stands out occasionally with its own tight fills, I think I heard some cool little harmonics there. Very good work!"Reviewed by: BobTheBand - 2/7/2005"speechless... some of the most talented music ive heard in a LONG time. Im loving it. You guys are rediculously awesome... (im sure thats a nice ego boost) but i really mean it. KEEP UP THE DAMN GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"Reviewed by: solipsism - 2/5/2005"magnum - this is strange but very nice...it's almost as if the guitar is telling a story, very nice and ambient the soft washes in the background are quite... you know i'm finding it difficult to try and put into words...it's just an awesome piece of music and it doesn't really need any description. The guitar is awesome...epic in proportions, brilliant electrified sound. great piece of music"Reviewed by: DiegoB - 2/5/2005"wonderful music - atmospheric track, headphones recommended. i'm listening to the wonderful guitar work and relax on my couch, thank you for the music."Reviewed by: 24X - 2/4/2005"opus - Great guitarwork. I found it a bit too bassy but thats probably what you were going for because its a very warm sound. The actual melody is great. nice transition then when the other instruments come in. The haunting sustained lead is great and its great that it gets progressivly more complex.. The overall song reminds me of band like A porcupine tree or light Opeth. Very well written."I have to thank another batch of extremely gracious reviewers - glad they found our music to their liking...

Re: ONOFFON
ONOFFON's SSP of the Day is from our page at Download.com - CNET's home for indie music - this is a short review left by the much respected and talented indie artist, Hidden Symmetry - it can be found in the review section of our page there -Download.com - ONOFFON Reviewshttp://music.download.com/3640-8484-100048764.html Carl Eichman / Hidden Symmetry 5/5 Stars "Mardi Gras One of the first tunes I heard on the old mp3.com & still remains one of my favorites. Great writing, playing & overall excellent performances in all tunes by each member. -ce"Thanks to Carl for taking the time to leave his thoughts on our page... They say that the mark of a truly great song is its timelessness. Our song, "Mardi Gras", was 'released' in 1999 on our CD, Your Mind. Since that time, it has been downloaded more than 100,000 times (and I think that's a conservative estimate), 80,000+ of those on the original Mp3.com. When Universal/Vivendi bought Mp3.com, they actually featured it on their front page - a promotional highlight I preserved on our homepage -http://www.onoffon.com/feature.htmlNow, five years since its 'release', it continues to receive tremendous reviews - it's currently in its 16th straight day at #8 in the BroadJam Latin Jazz Top 10 - and is still receiving steady airplay on FOX Sports and ComCast Sports cable and digital networks.I don't know if that necessarily defines it as a great song, but it certainly has been our most popular...

Re: ONOFFON
The ONOFFON SSP of the Day is a review we've recently received over at The OAS Board - a musician hosted community that gives reviews to its constituents - here's the first, written by its host, One Angry Swede -"ONOFFONInitial impressions:- The band makes VERY effective use of the internet- Impressive and informative website (congrats on the numerous awards, honors, and contests the band has achieved! - The AMG Guide write up is cool as hell !Mardi GrasHad a listen at your Scrub Records page --> http://scrubrecords.com/artists/632/music.php What can I say? I'm a company man. Ok...as for the music......I'm afraid I can't offer up much in the way of any constructive comments. A) I don't know enough about jazz in order to write anything remotely intelligent and B) You guys OBVIOUSLY are talented as hell and have a firm grasp on your music and style. Really.....the comments of a riff rock loving fan and minimally (very minimally) skilled part time rhythm guitarist like me shouldn't mean much at all to you. I will say that while this is not the type of music I often listen to - I did enjoy this track very much. Its nice to hear some REAL horns being played...and some REAL drums...and not the synthesized stuff that so many other indie artists in your genre end up using. Weekend in Montreal More 1st class music by professional musicians. ONOFFON - A misnomer to call these guys 'amateur artists'. Easily one of the most accomplished and polished sounding bands (of any genre) to have submitted a review request here @ The OAS Board. - One Angry Swede"Our sincere thanks to this "riff rock loving fan and minimally (very minimally) skilled part time rhythm guitarist"... every opinion is as valid as each other and I think he was quite eloquent in his...
