Hey AllI'm a relative newcomer to all of this and much to my excitement, I've got forwarded on 5 of my first 7 listings! What I'm wondering is this - it seems that there are quite a few success stories in terms of deals with libraries and placements on tv shows etc - what about artists actually getting signed? And do you guys think me living in Sydney could be a problem if someone is actually interested in me?Here's one of the listings:A Los Angeles-based Producer seeks POP/ROCK ARTISTS to develop and shop to labels. You must possess a very commercial style that would fit in today's top 40 pop/rock radio (think Kelly Clarkson to the Fray to Nickelback). Strong songwriting skills are a definite advantage, but not imperative - great vocal ability and an overall unique style/sound are the key factors.Brettps - if you wanna check out a few of my tracks www.myspace.com/brettbarnesmusic

Re: Signed as an Artist?
Hi Brett, congrats on your forwards, that's really cool cause artist listings tend to be pretty tough to get forwarded to.There have been some artists signed thru Taxi, but there will naturally be fewer of them than library or film/tv deals, since...well your average A&R person will sign one or two artists a year (and fewer every year it seems), whereas even a smaller music library will probably sign a hundred tracks or more in that same time frame. As far as being from Australia...if a US based major label is convinced you're that 1 in a million artist that's gonna make them a ton of money, I don't think they'll care too much about where you're from. On the other hand if your talking about a limited budget development deal or a smaller indie label, it could be an issue. Then again, there have been listings run by Australian companies in the past...which would put you front and center. A few years back a guy from Scotland got signed to an artist deal here in the US from attending the Road Rally, so it's certainly possible.Best of luck to you, and again congrats on your forwards. matto
