UAD 1/2 favorite plugs

When I moved from G5 to mac pro, I was forced to upgrade to UAD 2. The G5 isn't compatible with the UAD 2. One of the downsides to the mac world. Matto was able to keep his UAD1 card and has both in his new PC.

uad do some great ones for sure eg fatso.

I wish I had a UAD-2.

btw. Is it subtle or "obvious"? I´ve tried a few tape sat
plug-ins and none of them are "furry" enough to my taste

Magneto is still the best tool for that in my arsenal.
(it´s a prehistoric Cubase plug-in, in case you´re wondering )

I have the Solo. I also have an old UAD-1 card that I run a few of the older plug-ins on. I've never run out of processing power yet, so I would say yes, the Solo is enough.

Please keep in mind if you have big track counts and want several UAD plugs on each track, and/or you run at 88.2/96, and/or you use the most processor hungry plug-ins, you may run out. There's an instance count table on UA's website which will give you a better feel for this.

Since you can run up to 4 UAD-2 cards on the same computer (assuming you have the PCI slots), starting out with a Solo is a great idea. You can always add another Solo or Duo (or even Quad) later if you need more processing. And any plug-ins you buy for the first card will run on any subsequent card without any extra fees.

+1 on the solo. I've not run out yet, but I used to often on the UAD1. I don't use a ton of these on my mixes so YMMV. The plug ins are AWESOME!
