I'm working on a childrens' music project and I want to create my own cd cover with animated characters. Can anyone recommend a good software program for doing that? Thanks!

Hi Dorothy

I'm no expert but I'm gonna guess that you'll want to work in a Graphics Interchange File Format ( GIF or filename.gif ). There are numerous animated gif software titles out there, some are free and some are not. You can probably google "gif animator software" and find a bunch. There are probably other formats that I don't know about, that will do lavish things. Depends on what you're looking for in your final product. I've done some very minor work building .gif files years ago when I built websites on the side, but once again, I cannot lay any claim to the terms proficiency or professional...

So the 'CD' cover is for the web? You could try a GIF animator; they're good for doing simple stuff like this:

(first one might be hard to see on a black background)

If you just need an illustration, you can use The Gimp or Google Sketchup; both are free, either will take some time to learn. If you're in a hurry, there are lots of hungry young digital artists out there.
