Re: NI's new guitar effect - "Rammfire"
Thanks heaps for your opinion! I'm going to tweak with those ideas. I only have bass left to record on a song I'm working on and this is giving me lots of help improving the sound by decluttering freq ranges. Thanks a million!!!

Re: NI's new guitar effect - "Rammfire"
I am happy to be of help Rob. IF our tracks ever end up in competition for the same spot... then I would like the one picked because it fits what they want <period>. Not because someone was missing info on how to achieve better sound/mix.
I am sure you would do the same for me!!

Re: NI's new guitar effect - "Rammfire"
just played with Rammfire for the first time today; it's included in Komplete 7. Inspired me to start an Industrial style track -- not my usual style, but we'll see where it goes!
A shredder-style guitar set up for dropped tunings would be ideal, but I just dropped the 6th string to D on my (Epiphone Elite) Les Paul strung with 10's, and that seems doable for a dilettante like me.

Hey Rob,
You are still trying to get too much out of everything and the bass of the mix is cram-packed. I can hear that you tried putting drums in with the GTR chugs but it's still not well enough defined. I can hear you are having trouble letting go of the bass on the gtrs... /cough... in his best Obi-wan Kenobi voice, Rob S. says,... "Let Go Luke"
You have too much Bass on everything so it is hurting you. I understand why... I have done it myself MANY times and I still do it, because I try to keep as much bass as I can on everything too.
Also, another bad thing, you have all that stuff coming in prior to the chug and it is more powerful, so when the chug comes in it sounds weaker... But that is mainly because of all the sub sonic info going on you are losing it.
I am going to throw something together quick to show you. IF I can... I might not to be able to do any better then you have. BUT I think I can with some proper techniques.

Re: NI's new guitar effect - "Rammfire"
Rob,
At this point I'll have to say that I'm not sure what you're hearing. The guitars are already cut signicantly below 366hz. The bass is also cut. There is a deliberate low freq rumble pad. But also, I wasn't attempting to get the drums as sharp as the Rammstein link I asked you about.
Also, when I isolate the drums and play just them, they sound virtually identical to the full mix. Only difference is the closed hi-hat loses a bit of sparkle but I can tweak that. And if I mute the rumble pad it also makes no difference to the definition of the bass/guitar/drum mix.
It may just be the heat of the track being affected by the mp3 compression.

Re: NI's new guitar effect - "Rammfire"
Rob,
I'll spare you the trouble!
I can confirm that a combination of output level and MP3 compression is the culprit for any loss of definition. I just did some experimenting on that side and the clarity and definition that I hear in the WAV file is maintained for the MP3 when I cut the volume in the project for the encoding and then boost the volume on my speakers for playback. Not only can I hear it but I can see it clear as day on the waveforms when I open the MP3s and WAVs in my DAW.

The above-mentioned level+mp3 compression issues were also responsible for that effect. Sounds fine now. The rise flows smoothly into the chug with no apparent drop in definition or volume."Also, another bad thing, you have all that stuff coming in prior to the chug and it is more powerful, so when the chug comes in it sounds weaker... Hey Rob,
That isn't all of it, if you are going after that Rammstein sound there is more you need to do... going to PM you with a clip link.
Rob
EDIT: I forgot to mention, if you are using "shelving" on the lows that is completely different then a highpass and lowpass filter. That must be it, because I am still hearing the bottom end and I am hearing a BIG moosh of bass from everything.
