TAXI larned me good (and polished my resume)

Post by ckbarlow » Mon Dec 08, 2008 10:40 am

I'm going to credit TAXI with an assist on this one for a couple of reasons.I got a "voice talent wanted" email from a local A/V production start-up that's doing a variety of things, including audiobooks. They were looking for actors, not musicians. But thanks to the "leave no stone unturned" advice here and from Michael, I wrote back to ask if they need composers too. Plus, thanks to TAXI, I was able to write, "I have pieces signed to a film/TV music library" in the notes about my experience. So, yes, they do need composers and wanted a CD. They got one, and today I got an email asking what compensation I'd need to compose for their first full-cast audiobook. Cool. (Now I just need pointers on what the contract and terms should look like! See my separate thread in the Biz forum... )CKp.s. For anyone who's been paying attention to the Tamalewood phenomenon (e.g. more than 100 feature films have shot in NM since Gov. Richardson instituted our film incentive program), getting some post-production traction going here too is a big, big deal, so I'm pretty excited to get in with a new local team.

Congratulations CK! That is so impressive, mostly because many would have unwittingly let that opportunity slip by. Heck... I probably would have missed it and I always think I'm thinking of everything (which of course I rarely am). Good for you... Dave
