Question on listing D110107SS

Post by Casey H » Mon Jan 03, 2011 1:15 pm

CONTEMPORARY SINGER/SONGWRITER-type INSTRUMENTALS a la Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, etc., needed by a Music Production Company in desperate need of tracks for a hugely successful reality show based on Teen Pregnancy. They are looking for tracks in the indie style, but that are solely acoustic guitar driven. Instrumental tracks submitted should evoke development, mood, and match the style of the referenced artists. Instrumental presentation must be top notch! They offer a standard non-exclusive, 50/50 deal and they don't acquire your song's copyright. Please submit one to three instrumentals online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS ONLY - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI and must be received no later than 10:00AM (PST) on Friday, January 7, 2011. TAXI #D110107SS

Do you read this as acoustic guitar should be the absolute only instrument in the tracks? At first I thought they just meant "driven" by acoustic, but the word "solely" makes it seem otherwise.

I emailed Taxi. How do you read it?

:) Casey

Wow, that was fast! I heard back from Taxi...
Hi Casey,

Thanks for the email...

You are right, the listing company is looking for the acoustic guitar to be the formost instrument in the mix. Other elements can be added, but acoustic guitar being the most prominent.

Let me know if you have any additional questions and I'll be sure to help.

Someone else called Taxi and the person they spoke to there said it should be acoustic guitar only. So now we're really confused!!

I just called TAXI and reported this whole chain of events, and the fellow on the phone went off to get clarification and came back with the same answer as Anthony's back to Casey: Ac. guit. just needs to be the most prominent element. "There can be other subtle stuff, but when we listen to it, we really want to hear that acoustic guitar above everything else."

I'll post this in the parallel thread too.
