Sheltering Tree Song

Post by timlylemusic » Mon Jan 10, 2011 3:37 pm

I'm a newbie to Taxi. Would be honored and appreciative if you could give me some feedback on overall song quality and the mix. I'm re-mixing this week and would appreciate your help.

Thanks guys!

is the reason I haven't gotten a response because there's a problem with the link?

Hi Tim - Not at all in my wheelhouse genre-wise...I thought it was well done, I wanted to hear it go somewhere with the production, it pretty much started at one level and stayed there the whole time, maybe a drum kit at some point? The quick "chant" at the start seemed kinda random.

It was sung very well. It's generally more productive if you have specific questions, or if you post the listing that you plan on submitting to, that way people can give you more pointed feedback. Also, the lyric guys like it when you post your lyrics.

Good luck.

eeoo,

Thanks for your thoughtful response. I think I might try and add a drum kit towards the end and see how it sounds.

The chant at the beginning is more of a tribute to the people of Uganda. It sets the tone for the entire piece. I know it's unusual.

Here are the lyrics:

Crowded streets/shoeless feet/wandering souls looking for answers/refugees under the trees/no rhythm, no more dancers/their village lies in ashes/beautiful people different language

Under the sheltering tree/there is security/the branches covering/when all around gives way/the tree gently sways/and hovers lovingly

Wounded hearts/both young and old/yet smiles appear on tired faces/eyes have seen what's best untold/longing for the day when time erases/the sun paints shade upon the ground/then from their lips a joyous sound

Would love feedback on lyrics as well.
