Radio & Records Charts #28

Post by bigbluebarry » Wed Mar 26, 2008 4:57 am

I just found out a few moments ago that one of the songs that I co-wrote with an independent artist just made it's national debut at #28 on the Christian Rock charts with Radio & Records.http://www.radioandrecords.com/Formats/ ... rt.aspThis isn't a direct result of Taxi but at the end of the story there is a connection. The artist is Eowyn (and yes, she is named after the character from the Lord of the Rings, and it's actually her real name) and the song is called "Silent Screams." She approached me last August about using some of my music for her new album. I ended up co-writing 4 songs ("Silent Screams", "Life", "Goodbye", "To My Surprise") with her and the producer, Travis Wyrick (P.O.D., Disciple, Pillar). They went with the title track as the first single released to radio. It was released three weeks ago. The first two weeks it was the third "Most Added" song and this week it was the both the top "Most Added" song and the "Most Increased Plays" song as well. What's the Taxi connection? Here it is... I had been contemplating joining Taxi for about 6 or 7 months before I ever talked with Eowyn about writing for her. It was after she picked some of my songs that I started thinking that maybe, just maybe, there might be other people out there, besides my immediate friends and family, who would like the music I write. Her belief in my music gave me that extra boost of confidence I needed to take the next step. And for me, the next step was joining Taxi, which I did in January. Over the last month, I've had 7 forwards. No deals yet but I'm just going to keep on writing and submitting and I think it's just a matter of time before that first Taxi deal comes through. At least that's the attitude I'm going to keep!I gotta say that the support I've seen through this forum has been awesome! I've been a part of several different community sites and this one has been one of the most positive and rewarding ones.Oh yeah, if you would like to check out the song, you can do so at her myspace page - http://www.myspace.com/eowynmusic. Right now I believe she has all 4 of mine in her player.Rock on!!!!

That's VERY cool news, Barry. Congrats. And from the sound of it, I think your hunch about a TAXI deal being in your future is probably an accurate one.I LOVE Spring Hill, BTW. Lived there, working for a family that owned a small, indie label in Nashville for a couple of years...BEFORE the Saturn plant went it, back in 1984-86. (This was working for the man who produced "Rhythm of the Rain" back in the 60's...Andy DeMartino.)Climb every Spring Hill.......Ted

thanks guys!Ted... we LOVE Spring Hill too. Been here for about 3 1/2 years now, and in the general Nashville area for the last 10. Depending on how long it's been since you've last been here, you probably wouldn't recognize parts of it anymore.

Lord, last time I was in Nashville was in the early spring of 1998, when my acapela group flew there to do a showcase at the Ryman...BEFORE the tornado that changed the look of "historic Edgefield" forever hit. Not sure I'd recogtnize THAT much of the area anymore. Downtown, I know like the back of my hand. (I lived my last two years in Nashville living right on Music Row, across the street from what were being built as Lee Greenwood's Publishing house/offices. God only knows who owns that building now.)Next time I make it there, we ought to make some plans for meeting up. Deal?Ted
