3 songs in a music library

Post by vicky » Sun Feb 03, 2008 8:20 am

hi everyone...My first three submissions....from Oct 06.....got signed to a music library for contemporary jazz (I haven't signed yet, but I have the contracts in me grimey paws).....I guess this means...I will have three songs that are being pitched by a company? I'm still skeptical in a way ...I get the paperwork in an email at 10pm on a Saturday night?...I'll take it!!I'm not a boaster, but it sure helps others here on the forum when you know it's all possible..without knowing everyone's success stories, I might have quit......the songs are...if interestedDesign Flaws...many forwards for a song in 7/4Pieces of MetalLaurence Robinson... this song isn't that happening ( )http://taxi.com/vickythebassplayerthanks for all the help...Vicky

Vicky,Even though you're not a boaster, this is the place to practice your boasting chops!! Go ahead and boast, you deserve it!!Congrats!!MazzPS: Even though you say one of the pieces isn't that happening, that's by your standards of what's "happening". For a library, they may have a different way of looking at things based on their market, etc., and it might be very "happening" for them and totally usable in ways you might not imagine. Go with it!!

Wow! From Oct 06 ? See? Patience and persistence pays.Vicky, you probably think the song isnt "happenning" because you wrote it some time ago and you change, but it is very good.Congrats! pat yourself in the back, boast all you want and go ahead and have a drink!!

Just listened to the cuts (home now, TAXI streaming works here). Well, 2 of them, anyway did you take the third down?Excellent creative stuff, good playing, nice recordings, very in the pocket for modern jazz. The 7/4 piece has a nice vibe and it doesn't feel overtly like an "odd time" piece. Well done. Even the "free" section at the end really works, that's hard to pull off and the transition back to the head is nice and smooth.I like your aesthetic a lot Vicky, hang on to that while you explore the more "inside" realms of library music. It will serve you well as you learn the ropes. You have a voice.Congrats again,Mazz

thanks everyoneQuote:Just listened to the cuts (home now, TAXI streaming works here).
