Deals etc. since joining

Post by mikegoudreau » Fri Jan 04, 2008 5:19 am

Hello friends !I posted some of this news in a thread I started titled : "My 1st post here". But I'm told I should have posted the results of those forwards here...So here they are : I signed deals for 11 songs with a library owned by a veteran of that industry....He has turned out to be a great contact and he has signed everything I've sent to him so far ( except 1 song that I thought was " Public Domain", but wasn't ). His last comments to me were : " Got your new CD. Nice stuff. You continue to show you are as diverse as you are talented! " When I first contacted him via a phone call he generously gave me a 30 min. lowdown on how musical libraries work etc...What a revelation...I didn't even know what a Musical Library was 1 year and 1/2 ago..This would NOT have been possible without being a member at TAXI...Thank you Michael and staff !!I will continue to send more songs since he really likes my stuff...His other comments to me in another email were: " Mike don't worry about being too selective, since I go through a ton of bad music every week and love working with talented composers I already have a relationship with...Those are the fun ones ". WOW ! That feels pretty darn good to hear from a veteran of that industry ! I also signed deals for 5 French Cabaret originals witha L.A. based library...One of which will be used in a French restaurant scene in the " Everybody Loves Chris " show on CW , produced by CBS/Paramount...I think the airing of this has been delayed because of the on going strike in Hollywood...But it will be aired sometime in the new year I'm told. My first deal was back in November 2006 for an Original Gospel song with another L.A. Music Library... Actually just got the contract back last week, more than a year later !!...I think this is a very big library so I probably don't have much chance of getting a placement with them...But they did choose my song among 140 submitted so that's pretty cool...It's a non-exclusive deal too so I can pitch again...We'll see I guess. I also had a forward to an Indie Label and the owner was " impressed" with the 3 tunes forwarded to him, so he asked me to send more stuff...So I sent 7 of my Jazz & Blues albums, and he loved everything I sent and will be getting back to me around January 15th to let me know what tunes of mine will be in his next CD box set release...Apparantly the 1st box set ( distributed by SONY/BMG in Poland went triple platinum !! ) Wow ! that's just too cool ! So here's the resume of the above : I signed deals for 18 songs so far with 3 libraries. I'm in the process of having several tunes included in a CD Box set with a Indie Label distributed by SONY/BMG...All this in 1 year and 1/2...So I guess that's pretty good for a self taught musician/singer/songwriter/producer ? This has really given me the confidence in myself I needed and I'm enjoying the most creative spell of my 20+ year career with 12 to 20 songs in the making for various purposes/listings. Happy New Year, health & happiness, and placements to you all ! Cheers, Mike Goudreau

Thanks everyone for the congrats and kind words....I appreciate it very much !I'm happy that this post is inspiring to some of you and that you know that with some hard work & perseverance you can obtain your goals/dreams...No matter how difficult it might seem !!With the help of TAXI, it IS possible..I hope to maintain this pace for 2008 and reach even higher !! It took me 6 months before I finally decided to join TAXI 1 year and 1/2 ago and thank God I did because all this cool stuff would have not been possible without being a member...And I'm not the kiss-butt type...That's a fact !Hey mewman, I live in a small town in Quebec called Stanstead..On the border of Vermont ( I was actually born in Newport, Vermont , but have always lived in Quebec.) .You can check my gigs at the myspace address below:http://www.myspace.com/mikegoudreaubandor my website ( doesn't get updated as often as myspace) :http://www.mikegoudreau.comCheers, Mike
