Spectrasonics stuff....

All of it: Omnisphere, Trilian, Stylus RMX . HAve the first two and just ordered Trilian. For now, my Yamaha MOX 6 (Also to me very impressive), my Music Man Axis Super Sport ( I am primarily a guitar player) and Peavey Classic 30 mic'd for guitars. An old Peavey t 40 Bass. Addictive Drums. LOTS of drum loops for AD and Stylus. The combination of a real guitar and amp, the MOX and the Spectrasonics stuff, should cover most situations I think. MaYbe not anything as huge as a project where it might be necessary to use LA Scoring Strings or Cinematic Horns. But pretty comfortable using it for most other situations.

Once you're acclimated to hearing Omnosphere you can't unhear it, and if you hear the patches on TV, you recognize it immediately. For example watching The Mentalist the othe evening I was like if that isn't an omnisphere patch I'll eat my shorts. Blends nicely with the standard sounds from the MOX but the end result is something totally unique as Omnisphere doesn't really come with traditional sounds of it's own. But the SPectrasonics also seems to come with a bit more of a learning curve, the orice you pay I guess for the power/features/flexibility it comes with.

Upon your recommendation, I also checked out Stylus. I've heard others talk about it (on this forum) but didn't really know what it was...

I really like the Spectrasonics big three, but it's true that most of us also need good acoustic drum kit software such as Addictive Drums or Superior Drummer / EZdrummer.

I use Trilian on almost every project now..... It's amazing!! My main electric guitar is also a MIDI controller, so my most expressive bass tracks come from the combination of real playing and the awesome features in Trilian including round robin sampling! It's hard to imagine things getting better than this.
