Post by JamesCarvalho » Tue Nov 12, 2013 6:22 pm

hello,
my name is jim carvalho i attended my first road rally "recently" and i'm now learning more about this forum thing. i live in Massachusetts currently but, also lived in Florida too most of my life.
i'm a former 20 year + performing EDM Dj/producer. but i'm now just interested in doing singer songwriter style music with me, my guitar and some mild overdub track production experiments.

i play guitar, keys, bass, and drums from an early age hence the musical family i was raised in.
i started writing songs recently with the help of some insightful information provided by taxi and will soon be submitting.

i've heard lots of great performances at the rally and i know my songwriting will need some work.
i'm glad to meet you all " in advance i'm thanking you"

The gritty power voice seems to have a vibe matching the music nicely, the speaking . . . especially at the beginning before the signing starts detracts and causes my ear to "tune out." The speaking is artistic, but I would like to hear this cut with only the gritty confident power voicing coming through. I think you may lose many listeners before they hear you sing because of the talking. - - - just my op. I liked the instrument mix :)

Welcome to the forum and I look forward to hearing more of your music in the Peer to Peer section. I agree with the above comments about the spoken word section, but I think you can use it in a bridge section or something after the strong singing has been established.
