One for the unique Van Halen covers ... Eeeek!!!! haha

Post by PeterD » Tue Apr 08, 2014 9:00 am

OK ... No laughing!!! Here's my attempt: https://soundcloud.com/moanakeiki/aint- ... -love-jazz

The listing: UNIQUE COVERS (in ALL genres) of well-known VAN HALEN SONGS are needed by a busy Music Library for a number of Film and TV placements. Give them interesting Van Halen Covers of recognizable hits such as "Hot For Teacher," "Jump," "Dance The Night Away," "Runnin' With The Devil," etc. They're not looking for sound-a-likes for this pitch. Male vocals only, please. Do you have a bluegrass version of "Jump?" Or mabye a Classical version of "Runnin' With The Devil?" You DO? We're impressed! Please send it in!!! Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This Music Library offers an EXCLUSIVE Deal, so please be sure your material is NOT already signed to any other Libraries or Catalogs. This will be a 50/50 split on the Master Recording only, as the original writer or publisher will still own the Publishing. You must own or control 100% of your Master recording to submit for this pitch. Please submit one to three Covers online or per CD. All submissions will be screened

Besides NOT sending this one in, what can I do to it in the next few hours?? :? Do I leave out the "Hey Hey Hey's" ?
On a serious note, I hope there's some potential ...
Thanks guys!!!!
:D

Send it in man!
Loved it, very cool. I was expecting it to be goofy, but it isn't and I really dig it!
Cheers -Rob

ha!! Thanks for listening, Rob!! :D

I don't know what made me think of Jazz, but the more I messed with it, the vibe sort of stuck.
Still tweaking ...

now I feel fulfilled.

(um... I think you should move the vox and the band into the same room)

yeah, Peter. The instruments don't really sound right with that much reverb. And the Vox has something going on in the midrange that makes it sound like a completely different room

A little dryer now ... I hope? :?
I think some of these patches have some verb already on them.
The recipe calls for a pinch, and I always add 1/2 cup!!

Thanks John!!! :D

I'm tryin' ...  Vocals and mix issues, but I think I have it closer.

Russell, Took the nudged vocal track out that was phasing. In hindsight, the comparison is night and day!
Thanks for finding that and bringing it to my tired ears!!!!!
