request for Latin Jazz Instrumentals

Post by niallyboy » Wed Apr 09, 2014 10:39 pm

The listing requests Latin Jazz instrumentals in the stylistic ballpark of artists such as Sergio Mendes, Mongo Santamaria, etc. They would like us to "Imagine the music that might play while you're drinking margaritas on the beach at a fiesta in Mexico". Wow, what a stereotype. Sergio hails from Brazil and Mongo hails from Cuba; the music that might play while you're drinking margaritas on a beach at a fiesta in Mexico is MEXICAN music.

My concern is that the gringo concept of all things Latin translates to Mexican, a major over-generalization we need to be aware of. This pitch contradicts itself: shall I submit Braziliero-type stuff, Afro-Cuban material, or Mexican rancheros?

Lovin' to Know,

Niall

Definitely, Niall,

I think they got a little too general with that description. They're hard enough to read between the lines, but when that sort of thing happens, they become impossible to interpret.

I'm going to sit that one out ...
