Do you have foodcourts in the US?

Post by simonja » Tue Mar 04, 2014 1:24 pm

Hi All - I'd like to check the cultural fit of a title: Love In A Foodcourt.

Is foodcourt a term recognized in the US? In Aussie and New Zealand a foodcourt is a collection of small restaurants which share seating and facilities. Food is usually quick, cheap, and cheerful.

Appreciate your opinion. Thank you.

Hello... A food court in the US is a collection of small resturants also, but I believe it is always in a large shopping mall... At least I have never seen one out of a mall.... Sounds like a good idea for a teen romance idea... Good luck !!

Yes, malls, outlet malls, truck stops, turnpike plazas, although malls are on the down trend, around here one of the biggest and popular ones around in the '80's had been bulldozed and vacant for years, another one has finally lost all the anchor stores and bought by a development company ready for bulldozing in the future.
Truck stops and turnpike plazas, transient facilities, not a very romantic setting imo, lol!
- That's in the US, so as long as a down under accent is maintained, should translate well and understood that there foodcourts are
desirable,lol! ;) hth

Thank you Bruce and Len - I appreciate your replies and advice. Glad to know you guys have someplace to eat over there. :)

That Aussie accent is harder to shift than gum on a windscreen, Len. Man, I love Yellow Sky! Great use of different instruments to flavour the mood. A deceptively light but complex melody. Reminiscent of Rossini - a personal favorite.

Bruce, I really liked Addicted - nice groove and beat and your voice holds it. You're too modest on your profile - you have a rare, clear voice. Flaunt it, man!

Also, in the US food courts are required to make Japanese, Chinese, and a Thai food all taste the same.

Pretty much exactly the same here, except for maybe the "cheerful"

I got drunk doing this once :)
