Chuck, that's where those pretty girls have to go to get your red wine while you lounge in your velvet sofa.

To quote a good and successful Taxi friend of ours...
It's all about learning and incremental advancement. For overnight success I suggest being born into a famous wealthy family and making a sex tape that gets "leaked" onto the Internet. For the rest of us, do the work and learn.

Where do I 'leak' my tape to??? Is that all I have to do?? :o Sounds a lot easier than writing great songs, recording them. Having them fall into the right lap, networking with co-writers, traveling, perfecting a craft, and being rejected on an almost daily basis....etc! ;)

I think 90% of the networking occurs in the bar/lounger.
:)

And I 100% agree with Casey on the purpose and advice.
People that come to be all star artists, in general, come off as stand-offish and too cool and then lose out on the ability to communicate and collaborate. It's not that you CAN'T get discovered, it's just that if that's all you're there to do you've missed out on about 95% of what the Rally is all about.

Some great advice from all.

I'm so excited. Been working my Ar$$ off to make this Road Rally. I look forward to meeting everyone here this week. I'm packing up today and leaving early tomorrow morning. Packing up paper for notes, iPad and laptop. And some CDs and business cards for networking. How many CDs are recommended to bring from experienced attendees? Any other suggestions?

My purpose is to learn and meet. Stardom is not on my agenda. LOL.

I admire and respect all the members that I've been in contact with and appreciate the love and respect I've witnessed here on the forums.

I'm bringing no more than four CDs. A couple for the ballroom panels, one for a possible mentor session and one just to have just in case. I prefer to hand out business cards and set up Soundcloud sets, so I won't be handing out the CDs.

Look forward to meeting you.

Cheers

Thanks KC,

I also have set up my SoundCloud account with sets too. I thought of that earlier last month. I have a fully produced Artist Cd which I released last year. Then will plan to use my SoundCloud sets for other compositions.

I just read Casey's post: http://forums.taxi.com/topic72927.html

Very helpful as well.

It makes a difference too what your goal is. I'm a TV composer, so I don't bring a lot of CDs. An artist might have different goals and needs for more CDs.

See ya there

Thanks KC.

I can see how one's purpose will determine that. I am not necessarily looking to pursue my "Artist" goals as I am pursuing my music placement goals. I'll bring extra CDs for all purposes. My intention is to learn and meet. I'm in this for the long term. :)

See you there.
