I have submitted 97 pieces of music since November/2014, and have never had a single full critique. The ones I have submitted for were just "yes/no" - but it would be very helpful and I wish more listings offered that. Has anyone observed there's been fewer listings with full critiques? Seems very few listings say "full critique" and I wondered if that was a recent change or trend? Would welcome your thoughts or observations.
Cheers, Diane

Re: Full Critiques
Hi Diane,
I don't keep close enough watch to see whether the number of listings with full critiques has gone up or down - it seems like most of the stuff I submit to is Dispatch or short term notice stuff anyways. The one line of "dig it" or "smart arrangement" with a forward is about all I hope for.
Like most things in this industry, its probably cyclical and dependent on a bunch of things.
remember you can always do the custom critiques through TAXI which I found to be pretty helpful if you ask a lot of questions about things that are your blind spots.
And there is always peer-to-peer - and the more specific your questions are, the more specific the answers can be besides "hey! cool track....."
What I have found to be personally useful over time is just seeing similar listings come up year to year. Yes it takes a long time to see the same listings come up again, but all the stuff you did before is like training for the next time.
It also doesn't hurt if you google some of the big production music libraries and listen to their offerings in the styles you are interested in. It can help to have another reference point especially if the listing you are writing for has three vocal tunes as a la tracks - and they want instrumental. it can widen your mind to different ways to make the track work.

Re: Full Critiques
Hey Andy those are great suggestions.
I think you are right on the money there,
I should really expand my listening horizon, the libraries that have such a wealth of fantastic material, yes I should really
spend time on those.
Many thanks for your helpful and insightful comments !
