Is this Americana?

Post by Ironbarkbob » Mon Oct 12, 2015 4:14 am

Hello every one. https://soundcloud.com/ironbarkbob/metal-mule
I wrote this song for a Youtube video that is about to be listed soon.
I am also hoping to use it on Taxi when the opportunity arises .

What I want to know is, does this song fit into the Americana genre?
I would also like to know if the vocal sits well in the mix.
,ambiance Wise

All advice and comments much appreciated.
Rob

Hi Rob,

This is a great mix!

I would not get hung up on titles though. I think "Rock-abily" is good but I am not sure it would fit "Americana" because of the electric guitars (that work perfectly here) - that is why I say who cares about titles.

However, you may consider changing the title to the post to "is this Americana" because I thought I was going to listen to a heavy metal song based on the post title. There are a bunch of Americana folks here who may not click because of the title.

Anyway, it is good and that is really all that matters.

However, be aware that if this goes to youtube on something that is popular it may hamper or disqualify it for other opportunities, so I hope you got some kind of loving for it thus far.

Nice song. :)

Yeah, I hear Sun Records, but not "Americana," the way the word is currently used.

Good stuff!!

Rob, I know this as Rockabilly too.

For me the vocal is a little too loud, especially when compared with the guitar solo, which is way too quiet, to my ears.

Just my 2 cents.

Nick

In agreement with Nick - guitar solo oughta be front-&-center on the break.
Also - these ears could stand to hear your "Johnny Cash" guitar part pumped up and a tad more "growly".

Nope - doesn't register as Americana; Rockabilly is best description, as others stated.
I don't know if you can sing a version a whole octave lower... :o  :? 8-) ...
(sorta kidding...)

Hi there Fun Songs. Very glad to have you as a fan.
The lower octave is an idea I may peruse latter.
Thanks for your great advice. I have remixed Metal mule.
Regards Rob.

hey i dig this ,
i agree with others, i think this sounds like so rockabilly .. but i might also say
i was getting some country western vibes too..

i dont hear an americana vibe at all .. but its a fairly new genre for me..
