Sounds nice. The best advice I can give is audition each sound as you add them to the mix.
The easiest way to get a clean mix is to start with a clean mix. Sounds that already fit nicely together so you dont need to do a bunch of eq work.
Also less sounds less chance of sounds clashing.
Sidechain everything you can.
Also reverse sidechaining is good on the kick.
All the best!

Dang.. now I need to research "reverse" side chaining?
Trying to get that big clear Jim C/Element sound... it's not easy!
Thanks Gavin.

Some good stuff in there, was this for a particular listing?
Sonically I though it sounded a bit too polite and smooth, it had that slight sound of all the sources coming from one Workstation keyboard or VST and was lacking a bit of character.
I liked the build up but when the drop came I don't think the drums were strong enough, I thought the bit at 1.54 onwards was good , if it was me I'd probably have that as my intro instead of the current part.

yeah man reverse sidechaining is the bomb. just use a volume shaping tool. keeps sounds short and in their own place. can be useful.

Not for a specific listing... just working on the genre.

I think its always best to work on a drum and fx template. get that sounding clean and good then you can crank out tracks.Paulie wrote:Not for a specific listing... just working on the genre.
Take time building that template. it pays off later.

I like the use of "polite". I know exactly what you mean. Thanks!cosmicdolphin wrote:Some good stuff in there, was this for a particular listing?

Gavin, when creating lead sounds are you finding one epic patch, or are you using multiple, layered patches. And, are you going stereo for leads, or mono?

I'd like to find one epic patch. but if I need to layer then I have to. I like big lead sounds for that anthemic vibe so stereo works for that. also sometimes or a lot of the times will use mid side eq to spread a sound and let the kick and bass punch through the middle better. Lead can also be side chained a bit. getting a clean punchy solid center in the mix is good.Paulie wrote:Gavin, when creating lead sounds are you finding one epic patch, or are you using multiple, layered patches.
