Watching Wings ©2016 Robert George BMI
Well, I buttoned up my coat,
Walked on down that country road
As an April day began to slip away
And the sky was overcast,
But then something floated past
And it splashed a little orange on the grey
And I thought about the Ruler of Kings
And His castle in the sky
I was watching butterfly wings
And they lifted me on high
Sometimes people that we’ve lost,
Shadow valleys that we’ve crossed
Help us look at life and see divine details
And I heard a sad birdsong,
For a lover that was gone
Then he took the sky where liberty prevails
And I thought about the Ruler of Kings
And His castle in the sky
I was watching mourning dove wings
And they carried me on high
O I thought of metal wings among the clouds
And the mortal freedom heaven has allowed
Then I found a stone among some willow trees
Leaves were blowin’ even though there was no breeze
It was like an angel rising from a tomb
First he’ll pass the clouds and then he’ll pass the moon
And I thought about the Ruler of Kings
And His castle in the sky
I was watching heavenly wings
And they lifted him on high
Yes, I thought about the Ruler of Kings
And His castle in the sky
I was watching mystical wings
And they lifted me on high
Watching Wings
