Hey all,
I'm thankful for the critique although I'm a bit confused by the feedback - "Track has more of a sound design type structure and overall sound, rather than one that has a recognizable melodic theme that can help to grab listener's interest." I'm chalking this one up to the idea that it's just not what the requestor is looking for, but the listing is saying "little to no melody" while the critique is saying it needs a melodic theme. Do any of you have any examples that fit this category which were fwd'd? I'd love to hear! I love producing tension-filled cues and I very much want to be successful at it. Thx!

MINIMALISTIC DRONE INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a NON-Exclusive Music Library that’s providing music directly to the Executive Producer of a new show on a popular TV network. Please listen to the references below to hear a range of styles that could work: “Armoured Vehicle” by Johann Johannsson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZX0BfU6b-g “What Have We Done To Each Other?” by Trent Reznor / Atticus Ross: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4wSJMorYK8 “The Thing (Theme)” by Ennio Morricone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=meU2gAU7Xss#t=14 Quoting the source: “Great production and very little to no melodies are needed for these.” Please send minimal, suspenseful soundscapes that build and develop into hazy, atmospheric, film-score type ensembles. Your Cues should induce feelings like tension, angst, mystery, anticipation, etc., while possessing a dark, driving mood. Instrumentation can be synth pads, samples, and orchestral in any combination that works in creating the right vibe. You’d be smart to avoid dated sounding samples! Submissions should be at least 2 minutes in length. Short intros to no intro at all and Non-Faded endings with a natural decay/ring out are recommended. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced tracks in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 split. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this pitch. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Please submit one to three Instrumental Cues online or per CD. Please submit 1-3 Instrumental Cues online or per CD no later than 11:59pm (PDT), on Friday, September 16th, 2016. TAXI #U160916MD
