Amazon Series "Red Oaks"

Post by Jfinbury » Wed Nov 09, 2016 7:47 pm

I learned yesterday that my old song "One False Move and I'll Blow This Love Apart," which I wrote with my wife Patty Brayden and recorded in 1982, has made it into Episode 209 of the 2nd season of the Amazon Series "Red Oaks" streaming this Saturday (11/11).

Patty and I wrote and recorded this song with the Pointer Sisters in mind, but could never the cassette to them. It was difficult to pitch songs back then.

The Master tapes of that song and 7 others I recorded back in the day rested in a box in my attic until 2014 when shortly after I joined Taxi I saw an "opportunity" for vintage "R & B" originals from the 1980's. I digitized the 1/2" master and submitted "One False Move" to that opportunity which got forwarded and which lead to that song and 6 other of my songs from that era to be published/pruchased by a record company.

So here is the timeline: it took a few weeks to write the song, 2 days to record, mix and master (8-track), 33 years to a forward, 1 week from forward to the "success" of purchase and publishing, and 2 years from the success of the publishing to a placement on a TV show.

Alli in the ripeness of time.

Thank you Taxi!

"One False Move" may be heard at my Taxi homepage

Congrats John! :D Thanks for sharing!

I have some stuff from the 80's that I need to dust off and remix!
