If Truth Be Told ©2016 Robert George BMI
Is it really morbid
To believe the orbit of the earth around the sun
Is my lifespan circling the drain
Is it cold and futile
To consider brutal facts of failure and despair
When my winter moon is on the wane
If truth be told
Man refines his soul until he dies
If youth be bold
May my dimming years be calm and wise
Sometimes higher wages
Comforts and assuages feeling of regret and loss
Yet at night those feelings still hold fast
So it’s our duty
To enjoy the beauty that surrounds our passing lives
For it’s love and beauty that will last
The dark of night
Casts a shadow only tears can see
A spark of light
Shines within the hopeful and the free
When a person’s shadow shortens
Faith takes on a great importance
If truth be told
Man refines his soul until he dies
If youth be bold
May my dimming years be calm and wise
May my dimming years be calm and wise…
If Truth Be Told
