Alt Mixes

Post by Sonora » Wed Feb 08, 2017 3:09 am

I'm very curious to have the opinion of more experienced Taxi members on submitting alt mixes to listings.
I submitted yesterday a song which I had in two versions: full arrangement and strings and piano only.
I thought that both versions could work but submitting two alt mixes of the same identical song seemed stupid so I opted for the full arrangement, thinking that would have been easy enough for the screener to imagine how the track would sound without drums and guitars (there is an A section which is piano and strings only anyway).

How do you behave in situations like this? Do you submit both? Do you decide which one is best and, more important, did you experienced a screener telling you something on the lines of: yes, this could work but please send us a piano only version (I'm afraid that's not the case).
Thanks!

Thanks for your insight Paul, I'll consider it next time (the listing is now closed) but I don't know whether this applies when the two versions are so similar.

Here's the track in the two versions if your interested:

Do you think the expense of a separate submission would have been be justified?
