Wow there is some good discussion here. The purpose of life? How about to be a reflection of and conduit for the Love of God here on this earth and to be a part of building God's Kingdom. I think this is it for me. Unfortunately, I'm not as good at it as I should or would like to be. Yes, I am a Christian and I truly believe that Christ was born to die, as the perfect attonement for all of our sins. In other words, His execution paid the penalty (our legal and just sentence) for our sin and lawlessness before a perfect God. He was God's justice for us. He was sent by God because God loves us and ultimately wants all of us to know Him and His Love.Kurt

And Ern, I've been a minister for nearly fifteen years and didn't know I was a Universalist 'til now. Hey Mojo! I've been away for a few days, and I thank you for that comment. I didn't know your were a minister! --- I was going to reply for Stephen, but I thought he could explain for himself, and he did.My only point right now about this thread: My father-in-law has been a Presbyterian minister for almost 60 years. Even HE doesn't believe there is ONE WAY! His life has been through the grace of Christ, and he believes in HIM; that's what works for the good Reverend. But he still doesn't believe that's the only way to God. For right-wing christians, that is blasphemy, but I think my wife's dad is more knowlegable than most. He has written many books, and UNDERSTANDS what a Christ consciousness really means. My wife's father is 90 years old, and has studied all the scriptures, from Greek to Hebrew. He KNOWS this stuff. He's a Doctor of Theology and Divinity, and I don't doubt my discussions with him about what he knows or what he believes.God Bless,Ern

In regard to Christ, though, many people say many things about Him, and whether He's the only way, etc. I really steer clear of people's opinions about Him. I prefer to look at what He said about Himself, some examples of which are earlier in this thread. It's pretty hard to deny that at least He thought He was the only way.

MMMmm...whenever I hear somebody tell me they have the only way, whether it's the path of righteousness or a trimmer waistline, I put my hand on my wallet. If I wasn't explicit enough about where this 'only way' stuff tends to lead...
