oh well... hurry up and #fail (returns)

Dang it. Thought I would get at least one forward from this listing. I do appreciate the fast turnaround though. If you hear anything I'm missing from the listing please let me know. I want to get these right! :) I think these are usable... SOMEWHERE. :) And I can crank these out very fast, so a librarian somewhere is going to like me eventually. I can't seem to find any that want tension/drone/suspense stuff.

Tracks are on my Taxi page: https://www.taximusic.com/hosting/home. ... aulcroteau

Feedback:

From Within The Crypt: "Good atmosphere, but not quite textural enough for this pitch."
(I get that... this is more of a drone)

Ghost Ship: "I dig the drone, but the choral voices are a little off for this pitch when taking into consideration the ref material."
(the second a la has some voices in it)

Slow Amputation: "Not quite subtle enough on the tail for this pitch, although, I dig the emotional tone."
(the a las were busier than mine, not sure about this comment)
HAUNTING UNDERSCORE INSTRUMENTAL CUES are U-R-G-E-N-T-L-Y needed by a highly successful, NON-Exclusive Music Library owned by two Industry veterans who are using TAXI as the leading resource to dramatically expand their . It’s unlikely that you’ve got any music in this catalog, as their roster to date has consisted of a tight group of very prolific composers, until now! They’re searching for subtle, minimal Underscore Instrumentals that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Please listen to the following references to get an idea of what would fall into the range of what they need: “Dead Birds – The Conjuring” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WceT9BcSR2c “He Is Moving Closer - Taboo” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIeMA4oKGRo “Peretta Pod” by Charlie Clouser https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmTj1NdoLXc Give them subtle, textural Instrumental Cues with very little-to-no melodic movement. Your Instrumental Cues should have a haunting quality that delivers an ominous undertone and would support creepy or eerie scenes. Add and subtract textural elements as your piece progresses to give it some compelling edginess. Make sure you stick to one singular vibe and sound throughout your piece, and try to keep your Instrumental Cue on the simple side. Less is definitely more for this pitch! NOTE: This company is beefing up their catalog in a big way, so if they love what they hear from you, be prepared to have them ask you to send in 10 MORE Instrumental Cues in the same style in a relatively short period of time. This could be a case in which submitting three Instrumental Cues that are all “forward-able” is a good idea. It could show them you have the depth in your catalog. Your submissions should be at least 1:30 minutes long.

Well, dang, Paulie.
On the bright side - at the pace you're going, your "quiver will be full" when the right target is in your sights.
then: watch out for the flood. ;)
Cheers, Amigo.

Nice work nonetheless, Paulie! You have some very usable tracks in the can. That is a sweet place to be. :)

Wow... gotta say, that's a tad depressing to me Paulie, if you're getting knocked back on pieces like that! Seriously good stuff to listen to, thank you for sharing.

On the specific comments - the choral voices thing does seem odd, certainly can hear plenty of similar stuff on the 3rd ref track. Though perhaps they come across as less of a feature somehow in the reference track than in yours, like they've been constrained to a relatively narrow range of frequencies or something, or there's more other stuff padded around them when they happen. I got that impression anyway, and maybe that was what bothered the screener...?

The "not quite subtle enough on the tail" comment... that is odd. Unless they're referring specifically to the reverb tails being too long for their liking? Really not sure.

Anyway, thanks again. I think they're great pieces!
Bruce.

Even though I might hear choral touches in alas, and as tempted as I am, I tend to keep them out of my submissions.

Paulie, after listening, have to say these are good! I wonder if you had a different screener than I did..... hmm. And that title "Slow Amputation".... ouch!!

Sorry, I can't offer any advice either, because I don't get it. I think you're pretty close to the references and I'd have been happy and confident to submit these tracks. Then again, my tracks often get returned too.....too busy, not dynamic enough, not textural enough, not progressive enough, etc. The references always sound like they're easy to emulate, but its deceptively difficult to get tracks through sometimes. When they do get them through you wonder what what so hard, but can't always understand the logic or the criteria of the screeners.

Anyway, as has been said, your tracks are good and will no doubt get through for some future listing. You've only lost $15, which is about the cost of 2 breakfasts at Golden Corral isn't it? :)
