Dramdy major or minor

Post by ronnie35 » Thu May 11, 2017 8:30 am

Hello for all you Dramdy pros. Does it matter if it's in a major or minor key?

Hey Ron,

In my experience it doesn't matter. I've had success with cues in both major and minor keys. Here are a couple of cues that have had a ton of placements. You'll see that the one in a minor key is not sad as you would expect from a minor key. It has a very comical tone.

Slow Moving Target (in minor key)

Shopping Fever (in major key)

Best,
Steve

I agree. I've done a bunch in both minor and major keys. Although I will say that it seems that a lot of urban dramedy cues are often in minor keys, I guess to make them have a little more tension feel
